Vaemond stared in utter disbelief as the body of his saviour rose completely from the water, her form coming to rest on the rock near him. Her long hair clinging to her naked breasts, and her legs.........well there were no legs. Instead, where he would have expected elegant limbs would be, there was a tail, long and sleek; covered in iridescent scales that appeared to sparkle in the sunlight. A more astonishing, wonderous creature he was sure he would never lay eyes on again. The commander of the Velaryon fleet lost for words as she smiled at him. Sure, that at any moment, his heart would beat out of his chest.

"You.........you are a sea-maid........." Vaemond finally managed to say. Her sudden laugh at his remark, sounding like the sweetest music to his ears. The younger Velaryon finding himself hoping that he could hear that sound, for the rest of his days. Days that he now had, because of the glorious being, in front of him.

"Of course, what else did you think I would be? Your family and my father have a long association. He the one that gifted those before you, the Driftwood Throne, through the pact. So, that was why he sent me to rescue you; to save the seahorse from the depths." (Y/n) explained, before she looked down that her hands that rested on her tail.

"And I, well, I could not let the sea take you..........you are far to pretty to be nibbled on by crabs........." The daughter of the Merling King continued. Her voice lower than it had been before; yet Vaemond still heard her. A broad smile making its way onto his lips, as he carefully inched closer to her.

"You think I am pretty........?" The younger Velaryon chuckled, as he noticed another pink hue delicately kiss the sea-maid's cheeks. Vaemond sure that he had been described as many things in his life, but never pretty. His smile getting even wider, as (Y/n) nodded at his question.

"And I think that you have to be the most beautiful creature that I have ever seen." Vaemond replied. Hesitantly reaching out, as she looked to him. His hand coming to rest delicately on her cheek.

This had to be a dream, all of it. From the storm, where she had saved him from a watery grave; to this moment, where he was sat looking deep into the breathtaking eyes of a sea-maid. A maid that had confessed that she could not let any harm come to him, and that he was pretty; it must all be some kind of fantastical imaginings of his sleeping mind. But as he felt her damn skin against his fingers; her gentle warmth sending an exquisite feeling through his body. Vaemond decided that if this was in fact, a dream, then he didn't want to wake up. The younger son of Corwyn Velaryon, moving once more so that he was sat right by her side.

"Tell me about yourself. I wish to know all there is to know of the sea-maid that saved my life........."

                                                        >>----------------------------------<<

Vaemond looked around, as he heard his name being called. He had told his men on the ship, that he would come back to other side of the island, when he was done. The seahorse not realising until that moment, that the sun had begun to descend in the sky. It seeming that the sailors had become concerned for their commander.

He and (Y/n) had been sat there for hours. Vaemond just listening as the sea-maid told him all about herself. The daughter of the deity captivating him more and more with every word she spoke. (Y/n) telling him that she was not alone; that her father had many daughters and sons just like her, that could be found in all the seas, protecting sailors, and all those that worshipped her father. Though she had always liked to stay near Driftmark. Fascinated by the flying beasts that would fly over the island and come from the mainland. The sea-maid telling him that as much as she loved the sea, she had always wished that she could fly, just like those creatures. And then it had been his turn. (Y/n) wanting to know all about him, too. Asking him what he would do when he was not sailing the seas. His heart jumping with joy, as he had told her that the creatures that she loved to watch, were dragons, and that he knew one by the name of Meraxes. The look on her face, one of sheer delight. A look that made his heart, race.

"I must go. But, if you would like, I could come again. Tomorrow, perhaps......?" Vaemond said hopefully, as he got to his feet.

"I would like that very much, Vaemond. And you must promise to tell me more about yourself, and of High Tide and the dragon. Of all the dragons that you know." (Y/n) told him. Vaemond nodding, before he turned, as the sounds of the voices got louder. The commander turning back to see that she had already slipped back into the water.

"All you have to do is, call my name, and I will come to you. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing; as long as you are near the sea, I will find you. Until tomorrow, my sweet seahorse........" The sea-maid continued, giving him one last, perfect smile, before her head disappeared under the water; just as the sailors came into view.
