"I THINK I MIGHT JUST HAUNT HER,
YOU GOTTA LET HER GO"
__
Jennifer's POV:
I woke up in my room, a towel around my body and my hair half-wet in front of my face.
I still had my clothes from last night except for Fred's jacket, which was on the chair of my vanity.
I grunted but eventually got up and headed for the bathroom. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and saw that my mascara had completely ran on my cheeks, probably because of the rain. My hair was a mess and the beer stain on my cleavage was still quite visible.
I undressed to take a shower and feel a little better. As I showered, I thought about the events of last night. Tom apologizing, then Fred's bloody face, James playing dictator and finally Bill and Tom driving me home.
I got out of the shower and chose an outfit. I went to my vanity and put on my hair and makeup before applying a little perfume and admiring the result in the mirror.
I lifted my hair to admire the scar on my forehead. Just looking at it made me revisit the evening of the accident in detail. "Oh, Tom." I sighed before fixing my hair.
I made my way down the stairs and straight into the kitchen, where I caught my little brother and Chloe chatting.
When she saw me, she jumped up from her chair to rush over to me and give me a big hug.
"OH MY GOD JENNIFER I'M SO SORRY ABOUT LAST NIGHT!!! I SWEAR I YELLED AT JAMES AND DEFENDED YOU RIGHT AFTER!!!" she said as she closed her eyes, resting her head against my chest.
"It's all right, Chloe." I said, stroking her hair. "I love you Jenn." she said with a sigh. I smiled and hugged her a little tighter. "Me too Chloe."
I heard my brother laugh, which made us stop our moment of reconciliation and turn to my brother. "Don't look at me like that, just admit that you looked like lesbians," he said, which made Chloe's eyes pop out of their sockets.
I picked up an apple lying on the kitchen counter and threw it at him, which made him laugh twice as hard as before. Chloe rolled her eyes before sitting back down and I set about preparing breakfast.
"How's Fred?" I asked, playing with my fingers nervously. "He could be better, a broken nose and several open wounds on the face but nothing serious." Oliver replied with a sigh.
I sighed too, relieved that it wasn't too serious.
Suddenly, I felt Chloe's eyes pierce the back of my head and I turned to her, her eyebrows furrowed. I didn't pay too much attention to that and turned back to my brother.
"How come you're not working this morning?" I asked, helping myself to some cereal in a bowl.
"James said you had an altercation so he's replacing me this morning and this afternoon we'll be working together." he replied righteously.
James didn't want to talk to me? I couldn't believe it. He dared to play the victim when he had taken the liberty of forbidding me to see Tom?
This situation saddened me, James had been my best friend since I was a little girl and to see him like this because jealousy was eating him up was just ridiculous.
