chapter 3

A few days have passed, Alora and Indigo got everything unpacked, and were officially moved into their home. Alora was excited that she finally hung her egg chair to read all of her books. Alora couldn't stop thinking about the 'Historia Daemonum' book she found, so she decided after school she would read it.

At school, Alora decided to practice volleyball during lunch so she could be prepared for tryouts the following day. Nyx decided to eat her lunch in the gym room while Alora practiced. When they got to the gym, they saw Liam playing basketball. Alora asked "what are you doing in here?" Liam responded "I'm practicing for tryouts tomorrow. And yourself?" Alora told Liam why she was there. "So we are both into sports, that's pretty nice." Alora blushed, then set up to practice volleyball. Nyx sat on the floor eating her lunch, throwing the balls over the net for Alora to hit.

After practice, Alora told Liam and Nyx about the book she planned to read, but when she gave the title 'Historia Daemonum' Nyx said "demon history. You need to be careful when you read that. I had a friend, when he read a book on demons, he lost it. He wasn't even a demon." Alora had fear of reading the book, but knew she had to.

When Alora got home, she made herself a cup of tea, got her book, sat in her hanging egg seat. As soon as Alora opened the book, she immediately felt the flame from within start again, this time bigger, a little painful. She was getting to were she could not handle it, but she fought through it. Alora then started hearing a voice, she knew it was what was written in the book.

Thee who reads this book has the flame of hell from within. That who reads this will learn of the times to come. There will be a demon who will not follow the ways of her family for she will find love with the man she is to hate, an angel. The angel will know of her, her family, and thier history. The angel will not care, he will love her for who she is, just as she will love him.
Together they will bring forth the first ever child to hold the power of demons, and the gifts of an angel. This child will grow to do great things, and become the queen of the earth. She will be called 'The Toxic One' for people will not see the good in her heart, but the power at her fingertips. She will Balance the good and the evil.

The book closed on it's own, makes Alora's seat swing around, and spills her tea. Alora looks around the room and panics shouting "shit!" Indigo walked into Alora's room asking "are you ok? I hear stuff hitting the floor." Alora smiled and said "I'm good mom, I'm all good" with her back turned from her mom. Indigo didn't believe Alora completely, but left the room. Alora looked at herself in the mirror and saw her eyes were solid black again. Alora thought about what would calm herself down, she thought about Liam. Her eyes started to get thier color back, so she thought about all the time they spent that week, him playing basketball, and so on. When she finally got color back in her eyes, she went to her backyard to get fresh air.

Friday, volleyball team tryouts. Alora was excited to be back to playing volleyball. As she was heading into the school, Liam was leaving. Liam stopped turned around and said "I forgot you were trying out for volleyball. Is it cool if I stay and watch?" Alora answered "I would be glad if you did!"
At the tryouts, Nyx introduced herself to everyone along with the coach. Everyone had to play a game of volleyball so they could see who would be great to have on the team. During the game, one of the girls yelled "look everyone, the new girl thinks she's going to be on the team this year. As if!" Alora felt the flame from within start burning, her eyes turned black, and she played volleyball like never before. By the end of the game, she was the only one who hit the ball on her side and won. "Holy shit" coach exclaimed as Nyx mouthed to Alora "your eyes." Alora panicked for a second, then she spotted Liam. Alora's eyes got their color back. Alora starts to realize, she has a crush on Liam. Alora knew deep down she liked him, but now she has finally accepted it.

Alora went to Nyx's house afterwards for dinner. "When will we find out who made the team?" Alora asked. Liam jump in saying "we find out Monday at school" before Nyx could say anything. Victor sat down at the table and Nyx introduced Alora to her dad. Victoria walked in with dinner proudly saying "I hope you like Italian!" After dinner Alora hung out with Nyx in her room, Alora told Nyx about the book she read the night before. Nyx was shocked to learn the whole story then asked "are you the queen?" Alora looked at Nyx with confusion Wonder why she would ask such a dumb question.

It was time to head home for Alora, but Liam insisted on giving her a ride. In the car, Alora thanked Liam for the ride, even though she did not live that far from them. Before Alora got out of the car, Liam asked "are you doing anything tomorrow night? I'm asking because Goldmoon is throwing a party at her house tomorrow." Alora smiled and said "I would love to go." Alora then got out of the walked towards her house then turned around to wave goodbye to Liam, but he already left.
