Chapter 12

Nyx ran to check on Brian. With there being a death in the town, Nyx needed to know if he was safe. When Nyx got to her boyfriend's house, she was happy to see Brian still alive. Nyx grabbed him for a hug, saying with tears in her eyes. "I thought I lost you." Brian hugged Nyx back, wondering why she was scared. Nyx explained everything to Brian, and again, Brian had to process everything Nyx explained to him. Nyx and Brian decided to go back to Nyx's house until things calmed down.

Alora and Liam sat in Nyx's room for a few minutes, wondering if they could ever be together. They both have gifts that they can't control, but it's worse when they are together. Nyx walked into her room with Brian saying, "Hey guys, reminder, this is my room! Y'all can stay, but you can't make out." Nyx then laughed, but immediately noticed the tears in both Alora and Liam's eyes. Trying to make things less awkward, Brian asked, "Did you guys hear about the murder?" Nyx hit Brian's arm, hoping he would get the hint.

Liam remembered that Alora was starting to learn how to use her demon possession, so he implied, "Alora, can you possibly possess the dead? You can find them and find their last memories." Alora got scared with the idea, for she only possessed animals, never people. After explaining her fear, Nyx remembered her mother has many books in her office. Nyx took everyone to the basement/office to help Alora do research on demon possession. Everyone had to be quiet, heading into the basement, for Victoria did not like anyone going into her office. While walking through the doorway of the basement, Brian hit his head. Brian had to be quiet and not make a sound.

In the basement/office, Nyx found a book on demon possession. Alora read the book, trying to figure out how to possess the dead. Alora found nothing on possessing the dead. Brian found a section of a book explaining how to talk to the dead. With excitement, Alora grabbed the book from Brian. The book explained that a demon of the Succubus bloodline can contact anyone from the dead. What they must do is speak the name of the deceased one they wish to speak with, they will appear to have a one on one conversation with a circle of fire around the two of them, so no other may interfere with their time. After reading this, Alora explained, "I'm not a Succubus, nor do I know the name of the deceased." Brian told them, "My dad is on the case. Give me some time, and I can find out who died." Alora was pleased with Brian's generosity but still knew it would not work, for she is not a Succubus.

The kids went back upstairs, but when Nyx opened the door, Victoria and Indigo were standing on the other side waiting for them. "What are you doing in my office? You know you are not allowed down there! Why were you there?" Victoria yelled at Nyx and Liam. When Victoria saw Brian, she got even more angry. Indigo stood by Victoria as she yelled at Nyx. She then looked at Alora, saying, "I think it's time we go home." Alora left with her mother.

When Indigo and Alora got home, Alora asked her mother, "Do you know who died today? What happened to them?" Indigo was surprised to hear her daughter ask her such a question." Indigo answered, "It was an old friend of mine. It was hard to tell, but I managed to get a glimpse of their face." Alora was stunned to hear that her mother knew the victim. Alora then asked, "How did you know them?" Indigo ended the conversation by saying, "It hurts me to talk about this, I would rather save this for another day." Alora respected her mother's response, so she went to her room to listen to music and relax. Around 10:00 pm at night, Alora woke up to her phone going off. Nyx text Alora. "Brian got the name. It's Jessica Thomas." Alora wanted to find out what happened, but she still thought it was impossible due to not being from the Succubus bloodline.

The next morning, Nyx and Alora got a plan together of sneaking over to Brian's house to talk with Jessica Thomas. Alora showed up at Brian's house with Nyx while explaining why it wouldn't work, but Nyx believed in Alora, whether she was a Succubus or not.
