Chapter 8: His Voice

Illika

They are yelling.

I can hear them, but I don't know what they're saying. Their shouts are too jumbled for me to make out, and to be honest, I'm to tired to really care about what they're saying.

My eyes are heavy, the lids draped closed as exhaustion barrels down on me. I want to go to sleep. So desperately so. I want to just drift into that sleep. Can I? Should I? It's not as if I can really do anything. Not really.

More yelling. More shouting. Screaming. It sounds like someone is now hurt. How long has this been going on now? I have no concept of time right now. It's all just one giant blur that is stitched together. It could have only been a few minute, or it could have been an hour. In the end, I don't know.

I lay, my body disappearing from myself, feeling like a weighted bag of rocks, still unable to move. I am so tired. Tired of fighting. Tired of screaming. Tired of trying. What rest can fix that?

A set of soles tap on the cement lightly, perking my ears, but I still can't open my eyes to see who. I don't need to, though. Before long, the familiar and welcoming voice of Twice speaks.

"Illika..." I can feel him hover at my side, pressing fingers to my neck as he feels for a pulse. "Oh, thank God! You're alive. That's a relief." There is a pause, and it's almost as if I can feel his stare lift to the wall across from him. "I'm too afraid to ask why you're naked. Don't worry! I'm going to get you out of here! Let me just get something to cover you with."

I lay, unable to respond, listening as he creates a clone of himself. I assume the clone goes to search for something to cloth me with, and though I want to be embarrassed to have Twice see me this way, I am too relieved.

I knew they would come. I just knew. Though it was bleak, I always knew someone would come to save me. I just knew it.

Several moments go by, Twice repeating how I'll be fine and they'll get me out of here, when the tapping of more soles echo, moving quickly. It is Compress's voice that greets my ears this time.

"Oh, dear. You weren't lying." Softly and gingerly, something warm and heavy – a jacket by the feel of it – is laid over my naked body. "Dear Illika. I apologize that it took us so long, but we're here now. Has she spoken, Twice?"

"No," he answers. "She's alive, though."

"That's a relief," Compress sighs. "Alright. We should get her out of here while Shigaraki is still able to control himself."

Tomura. He came. He really came. He's here. I almost thought that maybe he wouldn't... That maybe he's still angry with me, but no. He came. He's here. He's really here. My heart leaps.

"What do you mean by that?" Twice asks.

There are a few sets of arms that start to lift me as Compress speaks. "Careful. We don't know the full extent of her injuries. Try not to jolt her, Twice."

"I know, I know," he says. "But what do you mean while Shigaraki has control?"

"He's holding back his quirk." It is Dabi. His voice cuts through the air, bouncing against the walls. "He's fighting the full strength of his quirk, so we need to kick it into gear and get out of here."

"We are," Compress assures. "We just need to make sure to carry her with care."

"Twice, make a few more clones to help support her spine, and let's go," Dabi instructs.

More words are exchanged. Not really any bickering. Just the three...or depending on how many clones are here now, the several men working as a unit to carry me steadily.

I wish I could help them. I wish I could get my stupid body to cooperate and walk out of here with them, but let's be real. If I were able to walk, I would have escaped days ago. I probably wouldn't have ended up here.

All I can do now is remain motionless and let them carry me. Don't try to fight it. Don't try to resist. Just be carried away.

However, as they carry me, my mind grows more and more groggy as my consciousness begins to slip. I'm so tired. So very, very tired. All I want is sleep, and now, with my rescuers carrying me out of this nightmare, I allow myself to start to slip.

But only after I hear Tomura's voice echo from another room.

**Bello lovelies! Decided to give a little Illika POV during the fight. Obviously, due to her injuries, she wasn't able to catch much, but it was still something. But even with Illika being rescued, don't worry! The story isn't over yet. There is still more waiting in upcoming chapters. Are you ready? Hope so! So, random: my siblings, cousins, and me have all started playing D&D. We just started the first campaign last Friday (07/14/2023), and so far, we had fun. We still aren't done with that champaign, but we're all enjoying it so far. It's fun...and funny lol. Random, I know. Anyway, as the norm, thank y'all oh, so freakin' much for all the love and support! Y'all are the absolute best! Wuv yous!! <3**
