Crash
Glass flew all over the floor in shards as my mother dropped the plate she was washing.
"Nathan honey, how long?"
"Um m-" I interjected but was cut off by her asking again, louder this time.
"HOW LONG?!"
Suprisingly Nathan answered calmly, "Freshman year."
"Have you ever, had a boyfriend?"
He nodded. "Yes, just recently I was with a guy named Mark, accept he turned out to be a jerk."
Despite the glass shards on the floor our mom ran across with worn old flip flops.
She hugged her son with all she had and began sobbing.
"For three years now eh? I just wish I wasn't the last to know."
Nathan, looked temporarily shocked and his arms lay limp by his sides for a while.
When the shock subsided he hugged her back and the entire ordeal was completely adorable.
When they pulled apart they extanged 'I love you's and went back to what they were doing.
Except, somthing was wrong.
Despite her eagerness earlier Mom had a troubled look in her eyes that could not be masked with a smile.
I shrugged it off and decided to just be happy for my brother.
I ran back up the staircase and to my room.
On my bed I was suprised to see my phone showcasing a missed call on the lock screen.
Picking it up I was pleasantly suprised to see Jannet's contact as the one who called me and quickly called her back.
She must have been waiting for my call because she picked up halfway through the third ring.
"Hey Jan-" I was cut off by a deep voice on the ither end.
"If you break Jannet's heart I'll personaly see to it that you break worse!"
The call ended.
