Announce It

I waited anxiously.

Me and Oscar had decided to group our parents together to tell them what had happened to me last night. It was hard work, telling them everything about it being a total suprise and even booking plane tickets for them just so it could be more comfortable before all the shocking news and announcements came through. I had silently predicted Dad hadn't checked my Instagram page yet, or I'd be dead.

Meanwhile, as I waited for them, I nestled myself in the warmth of the blankets in my bedroom. I had my hair down, the blankets all covering me while I scrolled through the contents of Youtube and Spotify, trying to find some calming songs while Theo rested himself next to me, constantly closing his eyes and putting his head on my lap.

Finally the moment I dreaded came.

The doorbell rang as I heard the sound of laughter and footsteps outside the door, as the two pairs trapped themselves into fits of jokes and laughter. It would be long gone once we told them what the news was. I quickly took out the cups of tea and spread them out on table, rushing out to open the front door.

"Hey darling!" Mum threw her arms around me, as I awkwardly hugged her back. Oscar gave an embarrassing hug and grin to his parents, as Nicole and Chris took their places on the sofa. Me and Oscar sat opposite them, Mum and Dad sitting next to them as well. "So, you must be Oscar's Mum! Very nice to meet you, Mrs. Piastri."

"Just call me Nicole, it's fine," She waved it off. "That's my husband Chris." As they both got on, the both men blankly sat there, until Dad shook Mum out of her conversation. "So, Ali, what have you got for us today?" I gripped Oscar's hand tightly, biting my lip casually. "Oscar?"

"Um, we- uh," I stuttered, no sound coming out. Nicole sipped her tea as Oscar passed his fingers through his hair, gripping my hand tightly as well. I scratched my cheek distractedly as everyone began to sip their tea. "I-I'm pregnant." The whole room went silent, except for the sound of Dad choking on his tea, Mum and Nicole swallowing their tea in at the same time and Chris coughing loudly.

"I-" I stopped myself before Oscar placed a hand on my thigh, shaking his head. Don't tell them the real reason if you're not comfortable, the message at seemed to say. I nodded, cursing and hesitating to even speak for a second. Once they all calmed down, I could tell they weren't happy.

"Congrats!" Mum and Nicole seemed to say before Dad and Chris said it too but quietly. I breathed hard, counting numbers out silently before Dad glared at Oscar, frowning at him so strictly that he shifted uncomfortably under the tension of the room. I bit my bottom lip and stared at the scene. "Adam? Why aren't you saying anything?"

"I- congrats," Dad smiled silently, as someone pushed open the door. It was Lando. He grinned when he saw all our faces. "Hey, Lan. I think I need some fresh air first." Dad walked straight out, Mum chasing him. Nicole and Chris looked extremely sorry for us as they waved awkwardly. I hid my face in my hands again once they left the apartment.

"Great," I sobbed. "Not even my own family respects the fact I'm fucking pregnant." Oscar wrapped me in a tight hug, stroking my hair gently as Lando sat opposite us, angrily phoning somebody. "At least Mum accepts it. We don't know how they're feeling." Theo had been pawing my stomach the whole time.

"-as I said, you should accept that she's pregnant, Dad!" Lando grumbled. "Oh yes - you don't need to buy me anything to persuade me that wasn't on purpose. It's not even April Fools' yet!"

*Oscar's POV*

Ali was sick after all the drama.

I sent Lando to the nearest pharmacy to get her some pain killers and cough syrup. She hadn't been feeling well after her Dad didn't respect her for being pregnant. Lando and him had a row on the phone after that, complaining about how he should be accepting the fact Ali was pregnant and that was it.
