CW: Mentions of homophobic abuse near the beginning, sad/jealous!Oli, some fluffiness between Oli and Josh, tiny emetophobia warning for a little bit of baby posseting.
A/N: Bit dialogue heavy towards the end, but needed. Enjoy!
The rest of the weekend passed by pretty uneventfully, with Mia finishing the final bits of packing before she left for the European leg of the tour on Tuesday. Oli was as attentive as ever, but Mia could have sworn she detected something odd about the way Oli was acting; almost like he was being over attentive. She couldn't quite put her finger on it though, and when she asked him about it, he reassured her that he was just going to miss her while she was away. Of course, she was going to miss him too, but this was far from the longest time they'd been apart and he'd never been like this before.
Monday morning rolled around and Mia kissed Oli sweetly before she headed out to the office, soon pulling up in her parking space and wrapping her coat around her tightly as the iciness of the late January air whistled through her ears. She spotted Sam's car pull up and waved before pointing towards the office building, indicating that she'd wait inside for him.
A few minutes later, Sam's grinning face lit up the building as he entered, greeting Mia with a hug.
"Wow, you're looking... different!" Mia quipped, a light blush dusting the tops of Sam's cheeks. "That tour must have done some wonders for you!"
Sam dipped his head and pulled his lip between his teeth and the pink on his cheeks deepened.
"Let's get up to the office," Sam giggled. "I need to get settled back in and I'll tell you what I can."
Mia nudged him with her shoulder and gave him a cheeky grin as they took the lift up to the office.
Becky and Ethan both greeted Sam with hugs as they got to the Metal Focus floor, chatting with him and Mia briefly before Ethan pulled Sam into his office for a post tour catch up.
After thirty minutes, Sam rejoined Mia in her office, pulling out his laptop and getting straight to work. Mia shot him a smirk but let him get on and eventually, the conversation began to flow as Sam showed Mia a preview of the photos and interviews he'd gotten whilst on tour.
"Wow, amazing work as always Sam!" Mia gushed as she clicked through his edits. "You've obviously enjoyed this project, it's reflected in your work!"
Sam blushed again and Mia smirked once more, leaning back and folding her arms across her chest.
"C'mon Sammy, spill!"
"Spill? There's nothing to spill. No idea what you mean!" Sam stumbled over his words and tried to hide his reddening face behind his laptop.
"Samuel Matthews!" Mia scoffed, rolling her eyes. "I've worked with you for long enough to know when you're hiding something! What gives?!"
Sam covered his face with his hands and let out a weird, sort of strangled noise of frustration before leaning back in his chair and letting out a deep breath.
"I- I sort of, maybe, met someone..." Sam mumbled out, his entire face flushing as he admitted what was going on.
"Oh my god!" Mia gasped. "I knew it! Tell me all about her!"
"Well, I can't tell you too much," Sam began. "But, uh, they're a he."
Mia's eyes went wide and now it was her turn to blush.
"Oh! I'm sorry Sammy, I didn't know you were..."
"It's fine, Mia, honestly!" Sam smiled at her. "I um, kinda used to like guys when I was a lot younger, but I had a really bad experience with someone and I hid that part of me away for a long time."
