Mia jiggled her knee anxiously, her phone in one hand, scrolling aimlessly through her socials. The departure lounge was busy and though she'd travelled loads for work before, something uneasy lingered in the pit of her stomach.
"Good afternoon. This is the boarding call for flight 515B to Paris. Please have your boarding pass and identification ready and proceed to gate 3. I repeat. This is the boarding call for flight 515B to Paris, now beginning boarding at gate 3. Thank you."
Mia hurried with the crowds straight over to gate 3 to check in. Most of her luggage and equipment had already been checked in so she joined the growing queue at the gate ready for boarding and soon she was settled on the plane. The flight was short; she could probably have gotten to Paris just as fast on the train, but at least the plane was more comfortable, especially since she'd usually fly business class.
Soon enough, she was through security in Paris and scanned the crowds for her name, eventually landing on a figure holding a placard with "Mia Thompson" written on it. She shook her head with a small smile - though everyone knew her as Mia Sykes, professionally she still used her maiden name and in these situations it helped her avoid unwanted attention.
The figure behind the placard dropped it and grinned at Mia, earning them a gasp of recognition from her.
"Max?!" Mia yelped, running over and hugging one of her old friends. "What are you doing here?!"
"I'm here to take you to meet everyone of course!" Max replied warmly, helping Mia with her luggage as they headed out. "I kind of got a promotion of sorts."
"Well, congratulations I guess! How are Gerard and the guys?"
"They're good," Max chuckled as he hauled Mia's cases into the waiting car. "It's been about three months since I left them now, but they're taking a break right now."
Mia nodded as they climbed into the car and Max subtly acknowledged the driver to their destination.
"So who are you working for now?" Mia questioned.
"A few artists actually," Max replied with a sheepish grin. "But for this tour I'm managing Black Veil Brides."
Mia gasped lightly and felt her cheeks flush the tiniest bit. Of course, she had known for ages who she was going to be dealing with on this tour, but now she was actually on her way to meet them, her nerves began to get the better of her.
"That's so amazing!" Mia swallowed her anxiety and smiled warmly back at Max. "I was kind of a bit nervous to meet them, so I'm pleased to have you as a neutral person to introduce us!"
"Bit of a fan, are you?" Max smirked playfully and elbowed her lightly.
"I was a huge fan as a teenager," Mia chuckled. "They were one of the first heavier bands I listened to, so I guess I kind of have them to thank for where I am now!"
"Well the guys are excited to meet you too," Max responded nonchalantly. "And I'll give you a quick tour and introduce you to the other artists too."
After around thirty minutes of travelling, the car slowed in front of a luxury hotel. The driver held the door open as Mia and Max got out and a steward hurried towards them, loading Mia's suitcase onto a trolley while Max escorted her into the building to check in.
"You hungry?" Max offered once Mia had been given her keycard.
"Starving!" She grinned. "I hope there's some decent vegan options around here!"
