Dinner with the Blacks

As the three of them walked down the grand staircase side by side, Grace noticed four faces she knew, along with two she didn't know.

"Druella meets Grace Potter, a purebred slytherin who happens to be dating my son." Walbuga said while motioning towards Kreacher to take their coats.

"It's lovely to meet you Mrs. Black"Grace said while extending her hand to shake it. Druella was taken back but shook the hand of the girl. "This is my husband Cygnus and our two daughters Bellatrix and Narcissa. Bellatrix is to be married to Rodolphus Lestrange in a few weeks and then Narcissa is to be engaged to Lucius Malfoy at the wedding of her older sister." she said while pointing to the four of them who looked out of place.

"It's lovely to meet you all," Grace said with a fake smile on her face.

Regulus and Sirius looked at each other knowing tonight would be a long and tiresome night with the four stooges and the blood crazy parents.

"Kreacher go get Orion so we may start dinner" Walbugga ordered the elf who quickly ran off to fetch his master. In mere seconds Orion was heading down the stairs when he saw the family all standing there, with one unfamiliar face mixed in with them.

"Orion met Grace, Sirius' girlfriend," Walburgga said. Orion looked at the girl and said his hello quickly brushing her off to go talk to Cygnus. The group of them walked into the dining room. Everyone quickly took their seats. Grace sat in between Sirius and Regulus who were close to the head of the table where their father sat. On the other side of the regulus was Alphard who sat next to Narcissa and Lucius. At the end of the table Cygnus sat there with his wife on his right hand side who was next to her daughter and her fiance. On the right hand side of Orion was his wife. The men all opened the chairs for their respective women and secured the seats they were in, meanwhile regulus and alphard just looked at each other and just sat as they were 6th wheeling this massive couple. As the courses were brought out everyone engaged in small talk, grace and her boys were talking about quidditch and who they think the new team captain would be for Slytherin house, while the respective fathers talked about business and their wives talked about respective duties in their lives. As the main course arrived the tinkering of glass could be heard.

"Family, let us give thanks for our darling sirius who finally found his way back to us though he may be in Gryffindor he at least kept his honor by getting a purebred slytherin girlfriend" Walburrga said while everyone lifted their glasses and clicked it, while a feeling of uneasiness began to settle down. Grace looked at the two boys, one to the right of her that turned paler than ever looking as if he saw a ghost. The other to her left knowing that soon this would be him and he would bring a girl for his mother to judge and scrutinize. Not knowing what to do, Grace put one hand on the back of Sirius, to bring him out of the trance he seemed to be in. The boy's eyes quickly darted around before seeing her, the way her smile slightly lit up the cold dark room was enough for him to keep going on. Sirius quickly moved her hand and kissed it while going to lean into her ear to ask her something.

"Are you okay darling? Say the word and I'll get us out" the boy was cut off by grace pushing him back saying she was okay and he had nothing to worry about. After that awkward moment the live chatter resumed, the rest of dinner seeming to go by, Grace had talked to almost everybody at the table except for the three stooges and narcissa.

Grace had always liked narcissa. When she was first sorted into Slytherin away from her brother Narccisa was there. She noticed Grace and quickly took her under her wing. Although they only had two years together, Naricssa quickly grew to be a big sister when all her life she was the younger. Grace had always gone to Narcissa for any advice or situation she needed help with. Nariccsa loved to have someone who had a new perspective, someone new to talk to, a new point of view from the rest of her family. Although she would never admit it, Narcissa wished she was more like her older sister Andremodea who believed in love and fought for what she thought was right, had she been more like her she wouldn't be stuck where she is right now. Grace remembers all the things narcissa told her and kept all her secrets. Though they don't talk anymore her secrets would be safe with her.

As dinner wrapped up everyone began to get up and walk to the living room. Grace had been talking to regulus and alphard about quidditch when she realized Sirius wasn't there. Alarmed she told the two men but just as she finished Sirius walked in the room with his hands behind his back,his parents were right behind him walking closely to their son.

"You need to get out of here now... they're planning something '' Sirius said, pulling Grace away from the conversation she was having with the two men, leading her into a hallway which seemed to have no end.

"What do you mean? What happened?" Grace said, pulling her arm away from Sirius, slightly rubbing the part that turned red due to pressure.

"The only reason you're here is so they can get the two of us engaged, and while I do want that in the future they're doing it as a means to an end. Once we are engaged we will be married and from there will have kids that will continue their stupid line. I would be placed back as the heir and our kids would have to follow their stupids rules." Sirius said, losing his breath with every word he spoke. All Grace did was look at him, shocked by both what he said and his parents actions. Grace knew when she came here she would be coming for other motives and she knew to expect the unexpected but she didn't know this would happen.

"If they want a show let's give them a show '' Grace said with a smirk Sirius swore he once saw on James face. She kissed the boy on the cheek, dragging him back to the room where everyone else was.

"Ah look there back, I do believe sirius had something to ask the young Miss. Potter" wallburga said while motioning for everyone to quiet down.

"Uh yes uh, why is this harder than expected.'' Sirius stuttered, lowering himself to one knee. "Uh grace, will you do me the honor of marrying me?" he asked, still stuttering and making a fool of himself.

"Why sirius i would have loved to but at last i cant" grace spoke earning lots of shocked looks and one very confused sirius followed by alphard giving galleons to regulus looking like he won a bet.

"I would have loved to but I'm a family girl. I want you to ask for permission from my parents. I want to get engaged in front of both your family and mine. I know James wouldn't like that, so I came over for dinner and suddenly became engaged. I would love to say yes but saying it would mean betraying my family and pulling myself away from them and, i know you of all people know what family is and the meaning of it.'' Grace explained helping Sirius to return to his normal stance and height.

"Why that was beautifully said, I agree with the girl. Let him ask for permission and then we can go from there. Looks like you won't be the only one having a wedding this year, Cygnus." Orion said, earning a glare from his wife and sister in law. "Maybe if we're lucky it could be a double wedding. What do you say regulus?" Orion continued to say, earning a look of spite from regulus.

"Mother, I think it best you hold onto this for me, you know when the time is right." Sirius said joyfully handing his mother back the box that carried the ring passed down through generations. While it was the official ring, it was only meant for the engagement and the wedding day. A second ring would be purchased and used for everyday life and wear.

"Sirius it's getting late, why don't you and Regulus take Grace back home?" Alphard whispered, pushing them to leave.

"We should be going as well, it's a very big day tomorrow we're going shopping." Druella said while smiling. " Grace dear i do hope to see you at the wedding if things work out well" she announced while exiting the house with her children and their beloved following close behind.

"Thank you for inviting me into your home. It was lovely to meet you, I do hope to see you again,"Grace uttered while shaking both walburga and Orion's hand.

"You were a lovely addition tonight, hopefully it can be more permanent." Orion said, pulling Grace in for a hug, something no one could have expected. They stayed hugging for a few moments until Walburga cleared her throat signaling this needed to be done.

"It was nice to meet you,we shall invite you in the future,maybe even allow you to spend the night. Boys take her home safely and come back at once." wallbruga announced, urging them to leave looking at the time.

Once all the people had left, Orion broke the silence.

"I like her, she seems to be good for Sirius. Maybe she can bring him back to us." he said, allowing his wife to breathe and nod in agreement. 

"Hopefully".
