How could you

Pranks were happening left and right. First it was the slytherins having red hair except for the "cool slytherins who didn't want to kill everyone". Then it was the brooms dancing in front of the ravenclaw tower, no spell or hex could have gotten them ready for the singing. Then it was the cake that exploded in front of the new defense against the dark arts teacher. Truthfully no one liked him, he was a creep to the girls, always hitting on them and saying suggestive things. Grace had told her brother who had the brilliant idea to cake him with a hexed cake that doesn't wash off the saying,Creep, branded across his face and seeping down towards his neck. It was the pranks against everyone else that made the school seem lively. If there was ever an issue with a teacher or someone was being rude, the marauders would take it into their own hands hoping to get the person back and bringing justice to the victim. Usually if someone needed help they would go to the marauders, unless you were lily. The last thing you would want is the marauders, especially after what happened with severus.

It had been a normal April afternoon. The flowers were beginning to bloom, the trees sprouted green leaves with a dash of yellow and orange. The willow had begun to show leaves, but no one dared to pick her beautiful leaves. The last time someone did they ended up in the great lake, close to drowning because of how fast he was thrown. Lily was walking around looking for Severus who couldn't be found on this beautiful day. With further searching she found him sitting under a tree. He looked up and waved at her telling her to come and sit. In the corner of his eye he could see James walking towards him. James didn't say anything to him, just walked by while saying hi to lily. Shocked by how mature James was, Lily expected Severus to rest with the same manners.

"Pathetic potter, can't even look me in the eye stupid brat," Severus said, earning him a nudge from lily.

"He didn't say anything to you and this is how you act, i dont get why you two can't get along. '' Lily said, pushing herself against the tree.

"Get along with Potter and his stupid dog. No thank you, where is this coming from? I thought we didn't like him?" Severus questioned earning a smile from lily.

"I know, but he's not that bad, you know, maybe if you got to know him," Lily said, earning a sigh from severus. He didn't respond back to her but rather continued with his book.

"Hey lily i wanted to ask if you would want to go to the party that sirius is throwing, for regs birthday? You don't have to say yes but i just wanted to ask.'' James said, slightly crouching down next to her, giving her some lilies he picked out.

Before Lily could respond, Severus spoke up. "Ugh, please Potter, go away. I don't want to vomit in my mouth today. You're so pathetic i dont get why you can't leave her alone. She doesn't like you. You keep pining over her when she wants nothing to do with you." he said standing up and closing his book. As if a fire lighted in him James quickly stood up and was at eye level with him.

"Okay boys enough let's not fight, '' Lily said while inserting herself in between the two of them.

"At least I can't ask her out, you're too scared to do it. You just hope that no one else will take her out but you know what I will. At least I'm man enough to talk to her and ask her." James retorted back as if the words could leave him.

"I'm sorry I didn't want to ruin my friendship." Severus responded back.

"She's your only friend, if you ruined it that would be on you." James snapped back.

"Enough you two act like children. I don't want to do anything with either of you.'' Lily screamed at the boys.

"Fine you mudblood, I don't want anything to do with you '' Severus screamed back, his words laced with venom. Lily's eye began to well up, before she knew it her eyes became glossy and she made her way inside, away from him. Running hoping to find answers, as the wind hit her in the face tears prickling down. 

"You piece of shit" was all james could muster before punching severus to the ground pummeling him into the ground. Quickly the other marauders found him and pulled him off. Sirius and Remus held back James while Peter helped Severus get up.

"You stupid bitch, how dare you say that to her. She's the most amazing wonderful person and you dare to call her that. You should be called that, deemed to one word, where no other witch or wizard sees you. You're pathetic snape. I don't want you anywhere near Lily, if you know what's good for you, stay away, "James said before spitting on the ground and walking away. The three boys followed in suit, not with questions but concerns. Was she okay? Where did she go? Does she need help? They knew they had to find her so they split up. Remus went to the library where many times he and Lily would stay up studying or reading without a care in the world. James went to the common room where he and Lily once talked all night because of their insomnia. It was one of the first moments where he began to fall in love with her. Peter went to the great hall, where he first sat next to Lily after begin sorted. They talked all night before Peter met his roommates. Sirius went to Grace's room, knowing that many times they would run into each other here. Sirius turned the knob to find a crying lily, Regulus rubbing her back and Grace preparing something. He lifted his wand and signaled to the boys he found her and where they were.

"What are you making?" Sirius asked Grace who had ingredients for so many potions out that it could kill a small child.

"She wont stop crying, if she keeps going her eyes will dry up and her breathing will become more and more shallow. She needs to relax but she can't. This will help her relax and breathe,'' Grace explained carefully pouring out the substance into a cup and handing it to lily. "Drink it'll help" was all she said as she watched the red head downed the entire thing as if she's done this before.

Peter was the first to arrive, with sandwiches handing them out and sitting on the floor next to lily. Remus then arrived with enough chocolate that you could kill a small dog. He stood next to Grace wrapping his arm around her neck pulling her into a hug. The last to arrive was James, who had run all the way from Gryffindor tower to the dungeons where the Slytherin house resided.James sat next to Lily, rubbing her back and stroking her hair. Without saying anything, Lily turned and hugged him crying on his shoulder. He had never expected for him to rub another girls back while she cried over a different man but he dare not say anything as he knew she just needed to let go, let all her emotions out with no judgment.
