That night when Belladonna got home after searching with Johnathan she didn't eat again. Instead she stood in her window leaning on its sill staring out at the night sky with glazed over eyes once again.
Barb was missing, Will Byers was missing, and Steve Harrington had ripped her heart out.
It all just felt like too much. Yes she always loved the poems of torturous love but- she didn't think it could feel like this. Addams love pain they crave it yet-..... Bella just wanted the ache in her chest to stop.
Her heart yearned to beat again but now it just felt dead inside, a former shell.
That night Bella didn't dream she tossed and turned and barely got any sleep. She had bags under her eyes and huffed before giving up on sleep altogether. Instead she left her room, left the house and stood outside staring out at the graveyard.
"Can't sleep?" Uncle Fester asks knowingly as Bella sighs and looks at him sadly. "......Do you ever get lonely uncle fester?" Belladonna asks sympathetically as her uncle shuffles to stand right beside his niece.
"Sometimes...... helps being around the family. Around my favorite Addams child." He nudges with a smile as Bella's lip quirks but it doesn't meet her eyes.
"This boy- he will know what he lost soon enough Belladonna I swear on satan to you. Nothing can beat the love of an Addams." Fester says with determination as Bella looks at her feet and shrugs.
"I don't think he will. He's a mundane human and I'm- ...a mutant.... A freak. He doesn't see me like that other girl uncle." Bella whispers and her uncle sighs and pats her back.
"Not yet. Who knows- maybe maybe someone else will come along. Your still young you have so much time." He assures as his niece slowly nods.
"Do you- do you think mother and father would allow me to have my betrothal ball next year for my birthday?" Bella asks as her uncle looks to nod slowly. It was an Addams tradition many years ago to hold a ball and invite all eligible bachelors to a young 18+ Addams girl's birthday.
Sometimes they'd get instantly engaged, others just made a list of suitors to fight for their attention and love. Others..... found true love.
"We haven't held one of those in a long time..... I'm sure Gomez would love the idea. You know him and love." uncle fester teases as Bella nods she knew too how good it felt. But this pain afterward? It felt almost unbearable and she just wanted it to stop. The ball usually took some planning anyway so the earlier they began the better.
