When Steve woke up that following morning the bed felt warm but empty. His hand subconsciously moves around searching for something or other someone but comes up empty.
Sitting up Steve looks around and notices Bella and her shoes are gone. The clothes he loaned her are placed nicely folded on the desk but her scent is still in the room.
She must have just been there just mere moments ago.
Steve sits there pondering for a second looking out the window to see the sun has barely begun to rise. He moves to the window and looks out towards the driveway to see Belladonna walking in her costume down the path leisurely like it's no big deal.
"What the hell?" Steve groans rushing to put shoes on nearly tumbling down the stairs in the process trying to rush to the front door.
He even dropped his car keys a few times as he tried to get ready to go after her. Having not grabbed a jacket the second he steps foot outside he feels the cold stabbing his bare arms making him hiss and rub them but he rushes to his car anyway.
Cranking the heat up Steve drives down his long driveway just as Belladonna goes to turn onto the actual road. Steve honks after her and Bella turns around with eyebrows raised with surprise.
Steve waves for her to come over and she slowly does still looking at him in pure disbelief that slowly goes away back to a stoic expression.
"What the hell are you doing walking home like that it's freezing?" Steve asks rolling the window causing her to lean into it to stare at him and hear better. Her chest visible due to the angle makes him look away and clear his throat.
"You could have borrowed my clothes and gave them back later or just wait for me to take you home." Steve says casually as Bella turns her head to an angle before shrugging not seeing the big deal.
"I keep telling you that I'm scarier than anything that can possibly be put in these woods. I will be fine." She assures him but Steve shakes his head leaning over the seat to pop the door open for her anyway.
"I'll take you home. It's the least I can do after-.... You know." Steve offers referring to her coming to comfort him.
Belladonna looks like she's debating the offer before shrugging and getting inside his car. Her bare legs look smooth not a single goosebump in sight it makes Steve smile to himself.
Not being cold in this weather is such a strange Bella thing.
He also noticed she had nice legs but that isn't something he'd voice either. Instead he turns his head and begins driving to her house a silence settled between them.
There were so many times Steve wanted to say something but then stopped himself short like he couldn't think of what to say.
Bella didn't act to notice and when her house came into view Steve tried to work up something but instead he sighs to himself. "Here we are." He says lamely pulling to a slow stop in front of her house.
