As a reader, I'm told I have unrealistic expectations,
When really it's society who has them.
Don't do this,
Don't do that,
Don't complain,
Don't protest the unfairness,
Don't feel any emotion,
Don't be human.
And in a lapse of judgment,
In a moment of self-doubt,
We believe them
We think it's not okay to display emotion,
Not okay to cry
Yet I've always been an avid supporter of a good breakdown
Because that way you shed all your problems and unload your heart.
If you dare to cry though, if you dare to break down, society calls you weak.
Crying doesn't indicate that you're weak though,
Since birth, it has always been a sign that you're alive.
