After Xaun pulled his favorite stunt, disappearing into the distance, I decided to try and settle back in for the night. It was already one in the morning and I knew if I didn't get more sleep I was going to be in the worst mood later today. I pushed against my bedroom door and used it to help myself to my feet. As i walked over to my bed, i stopped so I could close my window and lock it. I looked out my window, and closed my eyes so I could enjoy the chilly Autumn air one last time before locking back up for the night. I wonder if Turstin ever found his dog. I hope they are both okay. I pulled my window down shut, and locked it. What a night. Maybe I can go back to that same area after classes tomorrow to see if there's been any progress on the search.
I walked over to my bed and stripped off my oversized t shirt and night shorts. I could finally get comfortable and enjoy the feeling over my weighted duvet on my body with the cold air seeping into my room. As i pulled my covers back up to my nose, I couldn't help but to ruminate on what had happened last night. Sometimes figuring it all out later isn't enough. As my mind raced, my eyes began to grow heavy and I was able to finally fall asleep.
"LIL! YOU FORGOT TO SET YOUR ALARM AGAIN! GET YOUR ASS UP!" I heard Seren's voice pounding at my door from the hallway. How late was I? I grabbed my phone from my bedside table and realized we only had fifteen minutes before we had to leave the house to get to campus on time. What a way to start the day. I threw my cover to the end of my bed and hurried over to my closet. I opened the sliding wooden door and scanned over the closet contents with no ideas in mind.
"DID YOU HEAR ME YOU LITTLE SHIT?" Seren screamed as she turned my doorknob and opened my door so her voice could boom throughout my room.
"I am working on it Seren, I slept in a bit too late." I yawned.
"A bit too late? you missed breakfast and our daily scheduled prayer circle. Move your ass. You're literally naked." Seren sarcastically scolded as she walked back into the hallway and slammed my door. I wish I had the energy to kill at this hour. Much less the energy to joke around like that. The most nonreligious person on the planet making prayer circle jokes at nine in the morning. But, that was Seren.
I could hear Seren and Artemis scrambling to gather everything they needed and grab breakfast before opening the front door to head to the SUV. "We will be waiting out in the car for you. Don't make us late!" Artemis called to me with almost a sense of song to her voice. She was always so cheerful. It made me sick. Especially in the morning.
I grabbed a lace trimmed green dress out of my closet with a pair of black leggings and some ankle boots. After i got dressed I stopped at my metal vanity that stood elegantly in the corner of my room and I began to brush out my hair and do a final look at my outfit. Its so odd. Being able to see colors on yourself and those close to you who are meant to be in your life, but nothing else. I guess thats why curses exist. It makes life a lot less exciting. I couldn't imagine being able to see colors everywhere, on everything. I guess it would make it harder to know who is meant to be in your life, but is life better with or without the guessing games?
I ran through the kitchen so I could grab my sack of breakfast that Seren made for me before heading out the door. I placed the extra key back in the fake rock we had, put the rock back in its place. Then used my key to lock the door before galloping down the steps toward the SUV. I opened the door to the right side backseat, stepped up on the side step and slid into the SUV.
"Well, well, well don't you look nice today." Artemis looked back at me and smiled. "I thought you would never make it out here. You cut it pretty close this morning."
I rolled my eyes and smirked as I adjusted my dress and combed through my hair one last time using my hands. Seren sighed and started up the SUV s we could head over to the main campus. As we arrived, we got parked and Seren turned off the car engine.
