Sharper Than Usual

As i stood in line at the check out counter beside Turstin, I couldn't help myself, I was flooded with the smell of delicious and fresh baked cookies in almost every crazy flavor you could dream of. I looked at the wall behind the cashier to see a chalk board that was changed each week to reflect the selection of cookies they were offering. This week sounded especially delightful. The sign read: This Week's Treats: Pineapple Upside Down Cake Cookie, Apple Fritter Cookie, Funnel Cake Cookie, Strawberry Cheesecake Cookie, Sugar Cookie, and Marshmallow and Peanut Butter Dream Cookie. I could hardly contain my drool. I had such a sweet tooth. With or without color, these cookies looked amazing. Turstin didn't look half bad himself. As I watched him order, I could see the restaurant lights highlighting his perfect teeth. He had a professional yet modern haircut where the sides of his hair were shaven but he had the longer hair on top styled. Not a hair out of place. His beard was well trimmed, dark in color but a lighter shade of grey than his hair. His hair seemed to be a dark grey almost black. He had on a buttoned up dress shirt with a light colored blazer, I wonder if it was blue or green, either way he looked phenomenal. The lights also glistened off of his oxford shoes as my eyes traveled down his light colored dress pants that fit just tight enough to show off how much his healthy lifestyle rewards him. He was the epitome of perfection. What was I doing here with him? He even dresses like a professor. There is no hiding how odd we are as a pair. Somehow in that moment though, it felt like we melted together like room temperature ice cream.

"Lilura, would you like to try each flavor of the cookies they have for this week? I can get a larger package so you have extras for your roommates as well."

I blushed and smiled sweetly. "Yes, please do that if you don't mind. I would like to live to see tomorrow if I can."

"That sounds like a plan." Turstin giggled as he began to check out with our order.

After leaving Crumbl, we approached Turstin's Rolls Royce. "Here, let me get that for you." Turstin opened the door for me and held out his hand in case I would need it to hop up into the passenger's seat. I smiled and grabbed his hand gently to allow myself to have a better footing on the side step of the vehicle. After shutting my door, Turstin went around to the driver's side door, opened it, and slid into the driver's seat before shutting the door. "Alright! Everything good? Are you all situated?" Turstin breathed as he leaned over to help me check my seatbelt and the position of my seat. I was smitten. I loved the way that he cared for me and paid attention to detail. He seemed so genuinely concerned for my well being. I smiled and nodded my head.

"Alright then, now for the second part of our little adventure."

As we reached our destination I realized that we had reached Hacketts Harvery Park. I looked out the window and noticed the entrance to the park had been changed for the Halloween festivities. There were Halloween decorations and lights everywhere, trimming the path that we were going to drive down. I felt like I had died and gone to Halloween Heaven. I loved going from house to house looking at lights and decorations for the holidays, but our town had never implemented something unique like this before. As we drove up to the entrance we were met by an individual who was dressed up as the Grim Reaper. He had a sickle that had the words "One dollar donation please" written on it in light colored paint. He smiled hesitantly as he reach his arm out to allow Turstin to drop two dollars in his Trick or Treat basket for our donation to see the lights and decorations. I smiled and pulled two dollars out of my bralette.

"We are going to donate a little more than usual, this place looks amazing." I announced with a big smile on my face.

"Oh, bless you." The park greeter replied sarcastically as he stepped away from the vehicle. "Enjoy. Happy Halloween." He groaned, motioning for us to drive into the park.
