I walked over to the bar that centered the split between Turstin's living room and kitchen. The marble on his countertops glistened with light silver streams of color running through a darker gray almost black base. I traced the light streams softly with my index finger with my head resting in my other hand as I daydreamed. I can't believe all of this could have been ruined if Xaun had his way. What kind of friend does that? Why would he ever try to crash a date of mine? Why did he invite his other friends? I can only be grateful that Turstin doesn't blame me for him and his actions. I don't want all of that drama to put a damper on the rest of the night.
Tustin slid into a bar stool beside me and pushed the box of Crumbl cookies in front of me with a sweet smile on his face. "You must be starving after doing all that deep thinking." He opened the top of the box to expose the copious amounts of cookies we had available. My eyes widened as I realized the icing on some of the cookies had been smudged in some places and missing completely in others. A parting gift from Xaun and his crew. What an asshole. I looked back down at the countertop, feeling guilty. I let out a loud sigh and placed my other elbow on the table so I could support my head with both of my hands as I leaned over onto the countertop.
The air was stale and the sound in the room was silent. I could feel my anxiety building with each passing moment. I just knew he was furious, I can only imagine how much he had to spend for all of these cookies. Not only did he buy for us, but he has bought enough for Seren and Artemis also. I was the worst date ever.
I shuttered as Turstin began to burst out laughing uncontrollably. I looked over at him and stood up straight with my hands pushing down on the counter bracing myself. I was so confused. What is so funny? Why isn't he angry with me?
"Turstin, I-"
Before I could even really begin my sentence, Turstin had taken a couple of fingers and raked them across one of the patches of icing that landed on the lid of the box. He quickly leaned over and smeared it onto my nose. Laughing harder with each movement he made.
I looked down at my nose, cross eyed, then turned my gaze back to him. I tilted my head in confusion as I took my hand and retrieved the icing from my nose. I licked it off of the palm of my hand, and began to giggle a little myself.
"So then, I guess you aren't angry with me?" I chuckled.
Turstin stopped laughing slowly and then smiled at me warmly. "Ofcourse not."
He grabbed a napkin and scooped up a cookie with it. "I think we deserve something sweet after all of that." He reach the cookie out to me, holding it gently inside of the napkin.
I smiled and grabbed the cookie from him. The cookie looked absolutely delicious, it was topped with delectable marshmallow and peanut butter flavored frosting. There was an adorable mini marshmallow sticking out of the icing and the cookie itself was chocolate fudge, it looked moist and ready to be devoured. I broke a piece of the cookie off and munched on it as I placed the rest of the cookie onto the napkin and sat it on the counter in front of me.
"What do you think?" Turstin asked as he wiped his mouth with his napkin.
I nodded my head excitedly. "These are so worth it. Just like you said." I muttered with my mouth full.
Turstin shook his head in disapproval. "Enjoy your cookie, Lil. Talking with your mouth full isn't the best. I can wait. No rush here." He lectured as he put his hand up signaling me to stop.
I looked at him confused once again. Had I offended him? Way to go Lil.
I swallowed my newest bite, and I waved my hands quickly in front of me anxiously. " I am so sorry! I didn't mean to be rude. I didn't realize that would bother you."
