The door handle did not hurt his stomach when it collided. He decided that he would resolve the issue as calmly as possible and resume his pre-match warm up. But when the person emerged, his plans were put on hold. He wasn't sure of the girl's name, but he recognized her from when he had talked to Paige for a few minutes.
"Oh my God! I am so sorry. I didn't mean to hit you," she said in a panicked voice.
"I should have watched where I was going."
The girl still looked very shocked.
"Are you okay? I didn't hit you too hard, did I?"
Dean rubbed the spot were the door handle had hit him, smirking," No, it's nothing that I haven't felt before."
The girl closed the door and seemed to calm down a bit. Her brown eyes resonated fear. Dean did not think of himself as an intimidating man, but it seemed that in her eyes, he was.
"Uh, look," she said as she started to slowly inch away,"I'm still sorry about the door thing. Really, I didn't know that you were there."
"Relax. I'm not mad, uh..."
"Brittany. My name's Brittany. Brittany Cena."
Brittany Cena. Cena. She must be John Cena's sister, Dean thought.
"Well, Brittany, I'm not mad at you. It was accident. Nothing to worry about."
Brittany smiled. She had a beautiful smile, Dean noticed. Her eyes seemed to crinkle when she did. And she wasn't much of an eyesore either: her black hair surrounded her heart-shaped face, a few strands tucked behind her ears. He was taller than her by at least six inches. Her skin was pale. In his eyes, she was absolutely gorgeous, but he knew better than to let his approval get in the way. After Renee, he could not ever fully trust a girl again.
"Thanks, uh...?"
"Oh! Where are my manners? My name is Jon. Jonathan Good," he said, extending his hand.
She was a little apprehensive at first, but quickly shook Dean's hand.
"Jonathan Good. Pretty weird name."
Dean laughed. "Not as weird as Cena."
"Sometimes I hate it, but at least I'm not a Dick. Get it," she joked, walking alongside Dean as he made off for the entrance to the arena.
"Cena. You're related to John, aren't you?" Dean smiled with joy at the fact that he was talking to her so smoothly, not that he couldn't have anyway.
"Yeah, I am. I'm his sister. He can be a pain in the ass sometimes."
The temperature was getting hotter and the sweat was starting to poor rapidly down Dean's face. Brittany was feeling the change in the atmosphere as well, fanning herself with the little pamphlet that someone had given her a little while ago. The two came to a stop just outside the entrance curtain. Dean only had a few minutes left before he had to go out to the ring and give it his all against Kane.
The roar of the crowd was almost deafening. Seth Rollins, Dean's storyline enemy, was still one of the most infamous heels on the active roster, and judging by the way the crowd was booing his little soliloquy, it would be an interesting match. Of course, Dean was slated to win, but then again, he knew that things could become quite unpredictable whenever he stepped foot into the ring.
"You didn't tell me that you are a wrestler," Brittany yelled.
That made Dean laugh pretty hard. "Really? I thought that my battered wife beater shirt and wrist tape would give it away."
Brittany laughed. "Who are you fighting against?"
"Kane. Lots of promising moments right there."
The crowd screamed. Almost time. Brittany covered her ears. "I'd say so. He's pretty tough. Pushing fifty, but tough."
And then Seth stopped speaking. Only seconds to go.
As much as Dean didn't want the moment to end, he had to go and do his duty. He quickly turned to Brittany and said," It was great talking to you, Brittany Cena. Maybe we should do this again sometime."
Through the dimness, Dean saw that Brittany's cheeks were turning a rosy red. "Maybe we will. Good luck out there."
And then Dean's music hit. The crowed sounded as if they would break the sound barrier with their cheers. With the adrenaline coursing through his veins, he pulled back the curtain and eased into the scene.
"This match is set for one fall. From Cincinnati, Ohio, weighing in at two-hundred and twenty-five pounds, he is the Lunatic Fringe, Dean Ambrose."
