I was jolted awake by a woman's shrill scream echoing from the bedroom, or should I say our bedroom. My heart raced as I processed her words. "OMG!? WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU, BITCH???"
I groggily sat up, my nightgown slipping slightly as I turned to face her, fully ready to defend myself.
"Excuse me? It's rude to scream at someone so early in the morning, miss. Who are you?" I asked, my voice sharp, but my body still adjusting to the wakefulness. I tied my hair up into a messy bun and shot her a glare that could cut through steel.
She looked shocked but quickly recovered. "I asked first. I'm Elijah's girlfriend."
I blinked, remembering Elijah's words from last night. His daughter's nanny was coming today. This must be her—though she certainly didn't look like any nanny I'd ever met. She had jet-black hair and wore a uniform that screamed delusional.
"Girlfriend? In a uniform?" I tried to suppress a laugh.
Her face flushed. "I just tried this on, you bitch!" she shot back, clearly embarrassed.
I sighed and gave her a dismissive wave. "Get out of my face. You ruined my beauty rest." I pointed toward the door, not caring for her attitude.
"I don't see why I have to follow what you say. Who the hell are you? Why are you lying in our bed? You're a slut, aren't you? Did you seduce my boyfriend?" she yelled, her voice dripping with venom.
That was the last straw.
I stood up and walked over to the nightstand, grabbing a picture frame. I shoved it in her face before she could finish her sentence.
"Look at this," I snapped, cutting her off. "Shut up and look at it."
Her eyes widened as she took in the image. I wasn't sure if it was the shock of seeing our family photo, but she didn't say a word.
"I'm his wife, darling. So stop with the delusions. I know you're the nanny. Yanna talks about you all the time, but that doesn't mean you have any right to barge into my room and scream like a psycho."
Her face flushed bright red, but she was too stunned to respond.
"You think I'm going to just let you walk all over me? Get out. Don't ever come back. You're fired." My voice was cold, and I could feel the satisfaction of finally putting this drama queen in her place.
Her eyes welled with tears, and she looked to Elijah for sympathy, but instead, he stepped in front of me, his face a mask of anger.
"What the fuck is going on here?" he demanded, his voice low but threatening.
She turned to him, trying to defend herself. "S-sir, she just fired me! I was only asking who she was... I didn't know..." She trailed off, her sobs turning into sniffles.
Elijah looked at her like she was a joke. "Pathetic," I muttered under my breath, feeling utterly unfazed.
"Well, I'm the one who's firing you," he said, pulling out his wallet and tossing a stack of bills at her face. "And don't even think about coming back here. You'll never work for us again."
"But sir, I—I thought we were fine... yanna
loved us together..." she stammered."Loved us together? Yanna loves you, but you're crossing a line. She never once said she wanted us together," Elijah snapped. "You yelled at my wife and called her a bitch. That's unforgivable. And now, you're done. Leave. Take the money and get the hell out."
