Harper RiddleAs a prefect, we are supposed to be role models and enjoy a level of seniority over our class. I don't really see how I'm a role model, but whatever. The real question is how is Draco Malfoy a prefect? My best guess is it had something to do with his father. Draco definitely is letting the position get to his head. He makes sure to remind Harry any chance he gets.
Draco and I have to patrol the hallways at night making sure kids aren't sneaking around and all that. I could care less so I usually just read a book, catch up on homework, or wander the hallways myself. I like patrolling because I usually hide from Draco and end up getting a lot of time to myself which can be really peaceful.
A couple nights ago, the dark lord summoned me to the mansion to teach me new spells. One being a spell that can hide my dark mark so I don't have to wear long sleeves all the time because people might start to think I'm hurting myself or something.
I've always liked the nighttime much more than daytime. Everything seems so still, almost too quiet. Compared to the loud busy days when the hallways are filled to the brim of lost first years and annoying third years.
Anyways, tonight I'm patrolling the fifth floor and have no idea where Draco is. He's usually lingering somewhere around where I'm assigned to.
"There you are,"' I heard the familiar voice speak.
I turned to look, "Hi Draco." God, did he look good today. His hair was messy and ruffled. His black suit was open at the top and his sleeves rolled up. On top of that, a smirk pasted to his face smiling at me.
"I've been looking for you everywhere," Draco said looking at me walking in my direction.
"I've been here the whole time. Last time I checked you were assigned to the third floor near the Gryffindor dormitories?" I questioned the boy in front of me.
"How do you know where I'm assigned? If you wanted to know so badly you could've asked me doll," Draco stated with that same stupid smirk I wanted to wipe off so badly.
"I happened to look as your assignment was right next to mine," I said shrugging trying to play off the fact that I purposely looked for his name on the paper earlier.
"Oh my apologies then Ms. Potter," Draco said laughing.
I wish I could tell him everything that was happening. How I was really 'Ms. Riddle' and my entire life was planned out for me. He would never understand though. I know Draco's father is a Death Eater, but I'm sure Draco knows nothing about that.
"Go back to your area, you shouldn't be here," I stated looking down at the floor trying to avoid Draco's gaze on me.
"Do you want me here?" He asked taking a step closer to me. I took a step back and hit the wall behind me.
"It doesn't matter what I want. You just shouldn't be here," I stated coldly repeating my previous statement.
"Harper, do you want me here? If you don't want me I'll go now. If you're gonna tell me to leave at least look at me when you do it," Draco said taking another step closer to me.
I looked up at the boy in front of me. I tried to tell him to leave again, but no words came out. Draco took another step and was now right in front of me. He reached his hand up and tucked my hair behind my ear leaving his hand on my cheek. I nuzzled my face into his hand and placed my hand over his. He turned my face to look back up at him.
"What happened? I can tell something is bothering you. You can tell me anything you know that," Draco said trying to get some explanation out of me.
"I can't," Is all I managed to get out before I would start crying and I am not gonna cry in front of him.
