Harper Riddle

As I walked out of the great hall with my friends, Snape came up towards me and pulled me aside.

Draco and all my friends were waiting for me, but I insisted they walk on without me.

"It is being made aware to me that Professor Dumbledore is requesting to see you in his office," Snape instructed me whispering so no one else heard.

"Yeah um- of course I'll head there now thank you," I replied already knowing the conversation that was upon me.

I made my way to the Headmaster's Tower where I recall his office being.  After I found it, I knocked on his door lightly before being let in. It opened up for me and I slowly walked into his office.

"Professor Dumbledore?" I called out for the old man. What? Come on the guy is probably older than this school.

I continued down the stairs to find him at his desk.

"Harper, to what do I owe the pleasure of your company?" He questioned me.

"Um.. Professor Snape told me you wanted to see me?" I said as a statement and a question because I was a little confused.

"Oh! Of course. How could I forget the most important thing on my to-do list," He mumbled to himself.

"So what can I do for you? I'm assuming this is about the elephant in the room," I asked the headmaster.

"Ah yes well your speculations are correct. It's more of what you can do for me. You see I understand that your family 'issue' was not something of your control. It is my responsibility to make sure your morals and values are in the right place. Your family or more specifically who your father is, is a large worry to us as you can understand. We went through the same thing with your brother, Mattheo. We will not ask you to leave the school just because of your family, but when those 2 lines begin to blur that's when the concern begins. So I have just wanted to ask, do you stand with your family or with your school and peers?" Dumbledore professed his speech to me.

"I don't relate to my father in any way. I stand with the values of my school and nothing will change that. I appreciate your concern as you can try to understand how hard this has been for me," I answered him with a convincing smile.

"As I appreciate your answer, I'm afraid the concerns from parents and staff are a going to need a bit more convincing. Just a request, would you mind lifting up your sleeve for me?" He instructed me to do.

"What for?" I asked while my heart rate was going up increasingly.

"Just raise your sleeves will you?" Dumbledore instructed me again.

I did as he asked and lifted up both my sleeves. Little did he know I had a charms spell that concealed my mark from others and only I or other Death Eaters could see it.

"Thank you and I apologize for that, just wanted to make sur- uh nevermind," Dumbledore stuttered over his words.

"Of course. Please let me know if you have any other questions or if you need anything," I expressed my gratitude and understanding like the good girl that I am.

"You can see yourself out then. I apologize for keeping you here so late," The man said to me.

"I'm used to late nights anyway it's no big deal," I shrugged off his apology as it wasn't necessary.

I walked out of his office and headed straight for my dorm as I have classes tomorrow.

"Hey you," I heard a familiar voice say from the couch in the common room after I walked in.

"Hi Draco, "I replied sitting right next to him on the couch with my legs laying across his lap and my back against the side of the couch.

"Where you've been? What did Snape want?" Draco asked me annoyingly.

"Well it's funny. Dumbledore actually wanted to talk to me. It was a whole thing about my dad and making sure my morals were in the right place," I explained to the boy as his hand was on my knee.

"Did he suspect anything?" He continued to ask questions.

"Nope, not a thing. He asked to see my arm, but I have the charms spell so thankfully he couldn't see anything.

"Okay, well thats good then. We don't need anyone on our tail," Draco expressed to me.

"We already have, trust me," I replied referring to the situation that happened on the train.

"Yeah I know. Maybe we tell people we're dating? It'll help with the suspicions," He suggested.

"I think people can see there's something between us already, but it's not a bad idea. Our little train situation with Harry should help a lot. I'm sure he's told half of Gryffindor by now," I assumed by the fact that he can't keep his mouth shut.

"True," Draco agreed with me.

"I have something for you. I've been waiting for the right moment to give it to you," Draco continued to talk, but he seemed a bit nervous now.

"Wow, Draco thinking of someone other than himself? It's almost too good to be true," I teased him in a sarcastic voice.

"Shut up," He quickly shot back. Draco then reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box. It's funny it almost looks like a ring bo- wait. He then opened the black box and there it was. The most beautiful ring I've ever seen in my entire life.

"Draco-I.. it's so beautiful. Who's it for?" I dumbly asked him because I'm a complete idiot a majority of the time.

"Harper Audrey Riddle, will you formally do me the honor of being my wife?" Draco nervously asked me.

"I-uh Draco this is a really nice gesture, but I won't. I can't do this," I quickly said before standing up from my position.

"Ah you know it's already late latee so I should go to bed. Early morning's am I right?" I improvised to get myself out of the situation.

"What the fuck? Harper no you can't just leave right now," Draco tried to instruct me not to leave as he walked to follow me.

"I just-can't okay? I have to go to bed," I said lastly before quickly walking to my dorm and locking the door

Not even a few seconds late, knocks came from my door.

"Harper? Please let me inside. We need to talk about this. It's going to happen sooner or later. I just wanted to do it before we're forced to. Please I just wanna talk to you," Draco pleaded with me.

I sat on my floor looking at the door from the other side of my room. Since I'm a year 6 prefect, I get my own dorm this year. I miss Pansy and Daph, but I like the privacy. It didn't even matter that we were getting married in the Spring, it's just that he actually wants to.

"Don't shut me out. Please Harp I-just please unlock the door," The boy begged me from the other side of the door.

I didn't respond. I couldn't. If I did, I would probably end up unlocking the door and this was the last thing I wanted to deal with right now. So I stayed there sitting on the floor until I knew he was gone.
