Harper RiddleI've always loved Christmas as a child. It was just me and Sirius so I got as many presents as a child could want. Just one day where all your problems would go away. I wish I kept the innocence of that day now. It's been stripped and taken away unfortunately, like everything else in my life.
I had heard the new talk of the week about if you were invited to Professor Slughorn's Christmas party. I knew he didn't fancy me because of my family so I shrugged it off. I also could care less about a silly fancy party.
That was until Blaise surprisingly asked me to be his date to Slughorn's party. I didn't really want to go, but I felt rude declining my friend's invitation so I said yes.
I decided to wear my hair down with a basic white silk slip dress from a nice muggle brand called Valentino. It was expensive, but it's worth it for the way I feel in it.
The party itself was mainly boring. McLaggen kept hitting on me, but as much as I acted uninterested, He never got the hint. I pretty much stayed by Blaise's side the entire time, not wanting to socialize too much.
Not much later there was some commotion coming from the entrance. I looked over to see Draco being dragged in by Filch.
Draco made eye contact with me before Filch spoke, "I just discovered this boy lurking in an upstairs corridor. He claims to have been invited to your party."
Draco then interrupted him, "Okay, okay I was gatecrashing. Happy?"
"I will escort him out," Snape spoke out from the crowd.
Snape and Draco then quickly walked out of the party into the hallways passing right by me and Blaise.
The conversation resumed after they left, but my gaze was pierced on the door they just left. I couldn't help, but wonder what Draco was doing.
"Go," Blaise said to me.
"What?" I replied confused.
"Go see what happened with your boy," Blaise repeated to me.
"How did you-"
"Everyone can see it but you Harper. The way you guys look at each other, at this point just get married," Blaise explained with a bit a sarcasm at the end.
"Yeah. I know it's bad. I'm sorry thank you," I quickly blurted before leaving the same door.
I quietly walked so I could hear Draco and Snape's conversation.
"Maybe I did hex that Bell girl. Maybe I didn't, what's it to you?" I distinctively heard Draco talking.
There was some commotion before, "I swore to protect you and Harper. I made the Unbreakable Vow."
"I don't need protection. We were chosen for this. Out of everyone. Me. And I won't fail," Draco spoke again.
"You're afraid, Draco. You attempt to conceal it, but it's obvious. Harper does a better job. Let me assist you," Snaped pleaded. I had never heard him talk like this before.
"No! I was chosen. This is my moment," Draco argued. I had heard enough.
"Draco. Professor Snape," I announced coming out of the hallway.
"I think it would be in everyone's best interest to cease this conversation or continue it elsewhere. I personally see that it has no meaning to continue, but that's just me of course," I quickly spoke.
"Oh look, your darling girl is correct. Off to the dorms. That's not a request," Snape ordered the both of us.
Draco looked at Snape and then at me and then back at Snape, "Alright then."
