Sebastian's POV
After the party, when we finally had a moment alone, Y/n approached me with a serious expression on her face. I could tell she had something important to say, but as she began to talk about her conversation with Damien, a surge of anger and jealousy swelled within me.
"He apologized, Sebastian," she said, her voice filled with earnestness. "He explained about his family emergency and how he had to leave during that time. I believe he regrets involving us in that mess with the masked guy."
I tried to listen to Y/n, but my mind was clouded with doubts and suspicions. I couldn't shake the feeling that there were still so many unanswered questions about Damien and his involvement with the masked guy.
"Y/n, I understand that he apologized, but that doesn't change the fact that we still don't know everything," I retorted, my tone harsher than I intended.
Her eyes filled with hurt, and she took a step back, her voice quivering. "Sebastian, I thought you trusted me. I thought you knew I would never let myself be used by anyone. Damien made a mistake, but he's trying to make amends. Can't you see that?"
I sighed, my anger slowly dissipating, replaced by a sense of guilt. I didn't want to fight with Y/n, but my concern for her safety and well-being was overwhelming. "I do trust you, Y/n. But there's still so much we don't know. How did Damien meet the masked guy? And that feather on his cloak... I think a saw that symbol before. I can't ignore these things."
She looked down, her shoulders slumping with defeat. "I understand your worries, Sebastian, but I believe in giving people a chance to change. Damien is not the same person he was before. He's trying to be better."
"I know you want to believe in him, Y/n," I said gently, reaching out to touch her arm. "But we can't let our guard down completely. We have to be cautious, especially when it comes to our safety."
She nodded, understanding my concerns, but I could see the sadness in her eyes. "I just don't want us to be divided, Sebastian."
"I don't want us to be divided either," I replied, my voice softening as I reached to caress her soft cheeks. "But we need to be careful. I don't want anything to happen to you."
Y/n took a deep breath, her gaze steady as she looked at me. "I promise, Sebastian, I'll be careful. But I also need to give Damien a chance to prove himself. Can you try to trust me on this?"
I sighed, feeling torn between my love for Y/n and my need to protect her. "I'll try, Y/n, but I can't promise that my doubts will disappear completely."
She gave me a small smile, her fingers intertwining with mine. "That's all I'm asking for, Sebastian."
Y/n took a step closer, her eyes searching mine. "Sebastian, I also need you to know that my feelings for you haven't changed. You're important to me, and I want us to face this together. But I also want you to understand that I can't shut Damien out completely. We have to work together as a team, and that means finding a way to trust each other."
I swallowed hard, my emotions swirling in turmoil. "I know, Y/n. I want to trust him, for your sake. But it's just so difficult."
"I understand," Y/n said softly, her hand still holding mine. "We'll take it one step at a time. I won't put myself in unnecessary danger, and I'll keep you informed about everything. Just... please try to understand where I'm coming from too."
