Snakes bite

something seemed off ...

„Here take this, it's a sandwich I got from dinner. I didn't see you in the Great Hall, so I assumed you didn't eat." Damien handed me the sandwich giving me an apologetic look. I took it wanting to deny that I was not hungry, but my stomach began to growl. I ate while listening to what he had to say next."I did not only come here to make sure you ate but to apologize for the humiliating situation I put you in I'm deeply sorry for that. I didn't know that you would be late too."

„It's okey, how could you have guessed that I was going to be late and look like that today. But I appreciate you apologizing." I reassured him.

„So, we are good, right?"

„I won't kill you today, but I would keep one eye open when you sleep."I chuckled, and he joined in.

He took the seat next to me and we finish soon our homework. Afterwards we enjoy our company a little more before going back to our common room.

„Thank you for the help, it was nice spending more time with you."

"You're welcome, like wise."I responded.

"Good night and sweet dreams."He whispered to me, bringing me near him to hug me.

"Good night"

"Oh! and Y/n if there is anything bothering you or you just need somebody to listen to you. You can always count on me."

"Thank you",I said before going to my dorm.

The next day is saw Damien talking with Poppy before class which was strange because they usually wouldn't talk with each other outside off class. Later I found out why he had talked with her. Poppy explained to me that he wanted to know what happened last year that made me so upset that I didn't want to talk about it on our date. He also wanted to know how I managed getting into Hogwarts in the fifth year even though I didn't have as much training beforehand. Damien also asked to know how I was the best in the Defence Against the Dark Arts, yet I started learning magic so late.

"Honestly, while talking to him something seemed off. I know that sound crazy because we never talked outside of class, but I think there is more to him that he let us all believe."Poppy explained. "But my intuition could be wrong."

But Poppy's intuition had almost never fooled her; it was spot on. That was her gift.

That's when I decide to keep a close eye on him, but I kept up the facade that I had created of the girl that was interested in him. A few weeks have passed an nothing suspicious happened. Until the quidditch games began. The season open with a match between Hufflepuff and Slytherin. Damien was sitting in the back row when the first match had started but after 5 min into the game he left. Taking the perfect opportunity to do something you shouldn't. Everybody was over the moon happy that headmaster Black had finally reinstated quidditch and some wanted to see the results of Imelda's hard training.

Everybody focus on the exiting match that was looking tough, basically a perfect distraction for Damien to sneak out of. I told my friend that I was not feeling well to see what Damien Dark was plotting to do.

I saw him use an invisibility cloak to discreetly make his way to the restricted part of the library. I followed him making sure to keep my distance because the Disillusionment Charm didn't make you fully invisible, that's what Sebastian told me. He was looking at many books from dark magic to books about ancient magic.

This was the proof I needed to confirm Poppy's intuition. Why would someone come to Hogwarts in the six year and then target me to befriend on the first day. I didn't see him try to make friends with anybody else. The running into me and asking me out on a date on the first day was all an act, he strategically made. The most sickening part was the strange questions he asked Poppy. It was there when I realised, he wanted to use me, but for what exactly he needs me and my magic was still a mystery that I had to solve. But in order to find this out I need to be close to him at all times. So, I did what I had to do.

Really short chapter to not keep you waiting but it's important for what is coming next. Next chapter will be the best I wrote so far and also the longest !!!
