a/n: nobody probably likes the long chapters. i'm realllly sorry. so as a
little forewarning i will say that this chapter is the longest chapter i'll ever be writing in this fanfic (i hope) and to stay true to myself i will also say this is somewhat boring. you should skip the first section if you want──────────
two days passed; all was well. leo and i have been together the entire time, not a second spent apart. things were moving in slow motion, as all new things did. but what was so nice was that it didn't feel uncomfortably new, but the kind of new that twists your stomach into a knot with every soft touch. just a few days ago i thought i was in this world alone. today i'm not. and i wasn't planning to be alone tomorrow, either.
leo thought it be a good idea to have dinner with his parents in his yacht. the one he was talking about while we were at the beach. it was a wonderful idea to me, though i would have to bring mia along and i was worried the poor girl might get sea sick. and as for irmelin and george, i've known them for over a decade. things shouldn't be awkward unless they make it that way.
we started to get ready at around seven. we were leaving the house by eight to meet them at eight thirty. dinner would be served around nine. luckily i had bought an extra dress a few days ago, when leo and i crashed the wedding. i was sure i was going to need a few more outfits for the next week if we were heading the right direction. it was a navy blue dress that i decided to pair with a black blazer. i thought it would be nice to switch it up a bit, as the entire time i was wearing black though i still do believe black is my color. i bought a black dress for the 'revolutionary road' party but the rest were different colors, all dark in shades.
"mia, please be a good girl for mummy. i need you to wear this." mia was lying down in bed, as i had just given her a nappy change. now i was trying to get her into white leggings with a comfortable white dress and pastel purple flowers. there was a matching headband to go with it, though mia would probably take it off her head and start gnawing on it with her invisible teeth.
it was a struggle to get her into everything; it was the first time i ever made her wear body fit type pants. she was only a baby and didn't need her little legs trapped in tight fabric. but tonight i wanted her to look her very best. so alongside her white leggings were shoes the same pastel purple as the decorative flower print on her dress. i had room to keep them in my bag if she didn't want to wear it, though.
sitting on my bed, makeup, hair, and clothes, already finished for a good fifteen minutes, i tried to force my wailing baby into her dress i actually packed with me for an occasion like this one. leo walked out of the bathroom, his face freshly shaved and gel smeared over his formerly untamed hair. he was wearing a dark grey button up with black jeans. i admired both our dark color schemes. i can hardly recall moments where he's worn lighter colors, let alone myself.
"hello, darling." i placed a gaze on him for a slight second before i returned my focus on mia, whose dress covered half her head and her arms hidden beneath the fabric. "mia, i'm sorry but you need to wear this."
"let me try. you can warm up my car and we'll be right out." he set me to the side and began to assist mia. i rose a suspicious brow and sighed, abiding by his orders.
"alright, then. i'll be right back." i began to walk out of the room, eyeing him and mia who was still crying and unwilling to put out on her outfit. before heading out, i gave a reminder to try and put on her shoes and headband. he gave me a thumbs up.
