"what the hell are you talking about?" leo fumed, though i could tell he was more upset and in denial than anything else. though bar only said it to spite him, there was a feeling in both our chests that she meant what she said. every single syllable of it.

she crossed her arms, the smirk still on her face that i just wanted to slap off. this woman, who was hysterically crying thirty seconds ago, now felt like she was on top of the world. i pleaded to scoff. instead, my hand squeezed leo's, preparing him for whatever was to come. i had not one idea.

"do you want me to spell it out for you? well, i'm sorry to break it to you, but the baby isn't yours! i cheated on you!" these words came out of her mouth in such a manner that made it seem to be the information given was as significant as a grain of sand. the way it slipped off her tongue made it seem like she did not have a care in the world for anyone except for herself.

leo responded accordingly, as anyone should in this situation. his loud voice, yet not as deafening as the screeches heard from beforehand, could still be heard from outside his mansion of a home, and i was contemplating on covering mia's small baby ears. knowing i was unable to lift her up, i only ordered her to crawl farther away from the brawl. she had gotten better at crawling these last few weeks. she took initiative at the instant.

"if you f—cking cheated on me then why the hell would you tell me it's my baby? i mean, what the f—ck are you trying to do to me? and what did i even do to you?"

bar rolled her eyes like his previous questions did not mean anything to her. to leo, they meant unquestionably everything. he did not understand. neither did i. his nostril flared, legs shoulder width apart, his fingers curled to the palms of his hands to make tight fists which made his knuckles white. this confusion, this anger, made him want to scream from the very top of his lungs. with everything that he had, and everything he could feel.

her response was shallow, as was all the rest of them. "oh, now, cut the horse crap. you're no brad pitt but you're pretty damn close, aren't you? sorry that i'm just like everyone else in the world who thinks your worth a little more than a pretty penny."

a bystander again, i could not help but feel some hatred toward a woman i barely even knew. i watched as leo's angry expression soften slightly. his narrow eyes unfolded, yet this was so nuanced only a select few would be able to see such a change in his face. one of his balled fists unclenched themselves and his freed fingers ran through his stubby beard in frustration. he laughed in disbelief, his eyes closed for a split second before opening them back up in time to make his comeback,

"so you were going to use me? how far into your plan did you even get?" he began.

"you didn't think we were going to have a falling out? that i was going to get sick and tired of you? and then what? when i realized the kid wasn't mine you'd just leave them fatherless or something? you're pathetic!"

he was turning red. two balled fists trembled as a singular bead of sweat dripped down his forehead and stopped at his temple. bar's expression remained as it always was: arms crossed to her chest, one hip protruded as the opposite leg balanced the difference by protruding outward as well.

"yes i was going to use you, and no i'm not pathetic! you're f—cking pathetic!" she retorted. she spat. anger drilled every wall and corner. how dare she? how dare such a woman challenge such a man?

"you don't love me but you were willing to stay with me to take advantage of me? you cheat on me and planned to keep it hidden until you had so much pent up rage you had to tell me in order to get me back for ruining your plan? you're not just pathetic, bar. you're sick and cracked." he spat back, and if whatever came next from out of her mouth were other remarks about something completely disgusting and untrue about leo—so help me God—this bystanding will stop here.
