The Great Hall is decorated with tapestries and a large golden dragon statue impaled on a knife. Stoick is having a meeting with the Vikings as he stands at the main table with a big fire pit in the middle of the room. He had a map displayed for those around him to see what he was doing and planning.

"Either we finish them, or they'll finish us! It's the only way we'll be rid of them! If we find the nest and destroy it, the dragons will leave; they'll find another home!" He said, as he sank his blade into a large map in the middle of an uncharted corner, swirling with painted sea monsters and dragons. "One more search, before the ice sets in."

"Those ships never come back." A a man with dirty blonde hair disagreed.

"We're Vikings, it's an occupational hazard, now who's with me!?" Stoick asks.

No one spoke up as they averted their gazes and made up excuses.

"Count me out."

"Today's no good for me."

"I have to do my axe returns."

"Alright." Stoick said as he straightened his back. "Those who stay will look after Hiccup and Valerie."

At that moment, everyone raises their hands; their tasks are no longer their responsibility, not wanting the burden of looking after those troublesome twins.

"To the ships!" A woman shouted.

"I'm with you, Stoick!" A man with black hair said.

"Aye, that's more like it." Stoick said, satisfied, as the meeting was concluded.

Everyone then walked out of the great hall to prepare for the long, dangerous, and last journey before winter turns the water into ice. Gobber, who was drinking throughout the whole meeting from his prosthetic mug, dried himself off from the drinking before he went to get up.

"Right, I'll pack my undies." He said.

"No, I need you to stay and train some new recruits." Stoick stopped him, walking over to him as Gobber sat down with the chief sitting next to him.

"Oh, perfect, yeah, and while I'm busy, Hiccup and Val can cover the stall, molten steel, razor-sharp blades, a vast supply of opportunities running through their minds, lots of time to themselves, what could possibly go wrong?" Gobber sarcastically said as Stoick sighed.

"Oh, what am I going to do with them, Gobber?" He asks his friend.

"Put them in training with the others." Gobber suggested, but the chief took it as a bad joke.

"No, I'm serious." Stoick replies, turning to him.

"So am I." Gobber fires back.

"They'll be killed before you let the first dragon out of its cage." Stoick stated, fearing what could happen to his two children.

"Oh, you don't know that." Gobber waved his hand dismissively.

"I do know that, actually." The chief counters like it's obvious.

"No, you don't." Gobber counters back, not believing him.

"No, actually, I do." Stoick replies with a bit more force.

"No, you don't!" Gobber said, irritated that he won't listen.

"Listen, you know what they're like." Stoick said as he stood up, while Gobber shook his head. "From the time they could crawl and talk, they've been...different."

Stoick then walked towards a tapestry hanging down from the wall and from the ceiling.

"Hiccup doesn't listen; he has the attention span of a sparrow, and Valerie always disappears if you turn away for a split second." Stoick said, as Gobber lifted his mug to take a quaff of his drink, but his prosthetic tooth popped out and into the mug, surprising him. "I take them fishing and one of them goes hunting for...for trolls! While the other is busy chasing a dragon or gets kidnapped by one, or...starts singing!"

"Trolls exist!" Gobber retorts, turning to him. "They steal your socks, but only the left ones, what's with that?"

Stoick sighs, at least he knew where his son got that idea from now...

"Oh! And Val has a beautiful voice indeed, like a Valkyrie singing from the sky." Gobber said, lifting his mug to the ceiling before pointing it at the chief.

"And the dragons?" Stoick asks with a raised brow.

"No clue at all!" Gobber shrugged. "Maybe they like her voice or songs as well, or they think that she's good to eat?"

Stoick groans and rubs his hand over his face. Gobber slowly recalled what had just been said and slowly turned around.

"Oh, hehehe, whoopsies." He nervously laughed.

"Listen, when I was a child..." Stoick started, making Gobber grumble.

"Oh, here we go." Gobber muttered, rolling his eyes as he heard this story multiple times now.

"My father told me to bang my head against a rock, and I did it, I thought it was crazy, but I didn't question him, and you know what happened?" Stoick asks, as Gobber fishes up his lost tooth from his mug.

"You got a headache." Gobber mutters, but he already knew what had happened as he found his lost tooth.

"That rock split in two." Stoick said, as Gobber hammers his tooth back in place with his mug. "It taught me what a Viking could do, Gobber, they could...they could crush mountains, level forests, tame seas!"

Stoick then sat back down beside his friend.

"Even as a child, I knew what I was, what I had to become...Hiccup and Valerie are not like that." Stoick finishes sadly.

"You can't stop them, Stoick, you can only prepare them." Gobber advises his friend. "I know it seems hopeless, but the truth is you won't always be around to protect them; they're going to get out there again, they're probably out there now."

At this, Stoick looks up in thought, both of them not realizing how right Gobber was.
