Author's POV:
The CEO of the seafood export company sat across from his assistant, reviewing the details of their new business venture. They had recently met with a potential partner who was interested in investing in their company and expanding their distribution network.
"So, what did you think of the meeting?" the CEO asked his assistant.
"I thought it went well," the assistant replied. "The potential partner seems sincere and has a solid plan for expanding our reach."
"Yes but he didn't show ..." the CEO said, looking thoughtful. "But my gut is telling me that there's something off about him. He seemed too interested in our operations and wanted to know more about our financials than I expected."
The assistant raised an eyebrow. "You think he could be undercover for another company? Maybe trying to steal our trade secrets?"
"That's a possibility," the CEO admitted. "But we can't be sure based on this meeting alone. We need to do a background check on him and his company before we make any decisions."
"I'll start on that right away," the assistant said, standing up to leave the office. "In the meantime, do you want me to call the meeting off and tell him we're not interested in partnering with him?"
"No, not yet," the CEO said, leaning back in his chair. "I want to see how this plays out. But keep a close eye on him and let me know if you find anything suspicious."
The assistant bowed his head in acknowledgement and left the office to start the background check.
After few minutes, The CEO was sitting in his office, his head throbbing with a slight headache. He had been spending long hours at work lately and the stress was starting to take its toll. Suddenly, the phone on his desk rang, disrupting the quietness of the room.
He reached for the phone, hoping it wasn't another client or business associate. To his surprise, it was one of his closest friends Jimin.
"Hey, what's up?" the CEO said, the relief evident in his voice.
"Hey man, just wanted to see how you're doing. I heard you were having a rough time lately, so I thought I'd call and check in."
The CEO smiled gratefully. "Thanks, man. It's been a bit of a slog the past few weeks. There's just so much on my plate lately."
"I know the feeling," his friend said. "But hey, I've got something to cheer you up. A few of us are going out to celebrate a milestone we hit at work, and we thought you might want to join us."
The CEO hesitated for a moment, considering the offer. He knew the party would just add more pressure to his already full schedule, but he also knew that a break might do him some good.
"You know what, why not?" he said, making up his mind. "I could use a night out. When and where?"
His friend gave him the details, and the CEO agreed to meet them at the club later that night.
As he hung up the phone, the CEO felt a small glimmer of excitement. Perhaps a night out with friends was exactly what he needed to clear his head and get back on track.
