The mermaid finally broke the silence, speaking up in a voice light and airy, like the ripple of a wave. "Hello there," she said, her words carrying across the water with a haunting beauty.
The man's heart leapt into his throat. He had never heard a mermaid speak before, and the very sound sent shudders down his spine. He felt like he was in the presence of something otherworldly, something magical.
"You...you can talk," he stammered, his voice thick with surprise.
The mermaid chuckled, her laugh bell-like and melodic. "Of course I can," she said. "Mermaids may seem mysterious and otherworldly, but we're not so different from you land creatures after all."
The man nodded, still feeling as though he was in the presence of something otherworldly. He was struggling to wrap his mind around the fact that a mermaid was standing before him, talking in perfect English.
"Why are you here," he asked coldly.
The mermaid smiled nervously, her eyes sparkling like sapphires. "Oh, I was just swimming,"
The man felt a chill run down his spine. He was starting to realize that, despite her beautiful appearance, this mermaid might not be a friend after all.
"What is your name?" She asked softly.
"Jungkook"he answered "what about you?
"I'm Lisa" she smiled.
As soon as she heard a voice, the mermaid quickly went into the water
With a swift flick of her fin, the mermaid suddenly vanished beneath the waves, leaving Jungkook alone on the dock.
Lisa realized that she had bitten off more than she could chew, and that she needed to be more careful in the future. But for now, she was just grateful to have escaped unscathed.
