"Hey Lisa, wake up! We're here!"
Lisa inhaled slowly as she fluttered her eyes open. She met Chaeyoing's eyes from the rear view mirror and scrunched her brows together. Her roommate was giving her a certain look. A weird look.
That was when she realized she was leaning her head on Jennie's shoulder.
She gasped and sat up, her cheeks getting warmer and warmer by the second. She smiled apologetically at the brunette who seemed unfazed by it all. She honestly looked content.
"I'm sorry," Lisa apologized, combing her fingers through her bangs. Jennie laughed lightly, waving her hand dismissively.
"It's okay. I didn't mind at all," she said before exiting the car. Lisa watched her leave before meeting Chaeyoung's eyes again. And seeing the amusement in them, Lisa glared,
"Don't."
"Wasn't gonna."
Both exited the car simultaneously. It was already night time and Lisa was ready to just fall asleep again. Until her eyes set on the building in front.
"Woah! This is his parents' villa! It looks amazing!" Jisoo shouted happily. And it was amazing. The villa before them was a two story building with a flat roof. The walls were painted white with lights on the floor, leading them towards the front door as if they were humans welcoming them. The pathway was a smooth stoned surface with bright green grass on the outside.
"This is insane," Lisa admitted, amazed as they walked down the path. Jennie in front since she had the key.
"Have you been here before, Jen?" Jisoo asked as she walked behind her and observed as she placed the key in the wooden dark brown door. Even the wood looked expensive. Jennie shook her head,
"Nope! I'm just as amazed as you."
Lisa felt relief wave through her, along with guilt for feeling relieved in the first place. She had no right.
And then Jennie opened the door and what welcomed them was a beautiful interior. The walls were a softer white than the outside. The ceiling matched the wood of every single door around. To the left were wooden planks attached to the wall with a metal handle on the opposite side. It was the staircase leading to the second floor. Lisa had never seen such luxurious stairs before.
To the right was the kitchen where the tables were marbled and shiny. The tiles below them were so clean that she could see her own reflection from below.
"I second Lisa," Chaeyoung said, eyes wide and jaw dropped, "This is insane."
Passing the kitchen had what looked to be a living room. A light gray couch with silk, square orange pillows. And just behind the couch was the entry to the back yard which was the beach itself. All around were giant windows and all in all, Lisa was amazed.
"Okay, so," Jennie called their attention, "Tae said the posted note on the fridge has the wifi password, there are three bathrooms. Two have a shower. And oh!" Jennie's smile widened. "The upstairs room has a terrace!"
"How many rooms are there here?" Jisoo asked. Jennie hummed, eyes scrolling their phone screen till it stopped, "There's two rooms."
Of course there is.
To Lisa's luck, Chaeyoung locked her arms with her, "I call rooming with my roommate." And Lisa smiled, feeling grateful. Jennie smiled and nodded in return, seeming to look relieved as well. It was unsaid, but both understood that if they shared a room it would be too awkward.
"Can Jennie and I room upstairs?" Jisoo asked, already making her way to the staircase. "Yes? Okay thanks!" She teased. Lisa playfully rolled her eyes,
"Goodnight Chu!" Lisa yelled after her. Jennie giggled before meeting Lisa's eyes and smiling softly,
"Have a good night."
Lisa felt herself blushing deeply, "You as well," her stuttering caused Jennie to smile even wider before she turned and walked up the staircase. Chaeyoung chuckled beside her and unlocked their arms,
"You're so obvious."
Lisa scoffed, following her to the bedroom. The bed was king sized and right in front of their bed was a window that filled a whole wall. The view was amazing. It showed the pool from the outside and beyond it was the ocean.
"I am not!"
"Mhmm."
It was later when Chaeyoung was already deep asleep, breathing softly when Lisa realized she couldn't sleep at all. So, she slowly and carefully removed herself from the bed, wrapped herself with a blanket and walked out the door. She tiptoed towards the back door and slid it open, smiling as the breeze caressed her skin. She walked along the cement, passing by the pool, before walking down the steps till her feet hit the sand.
It was soft and she was happy she decided against putting on her shoes. Slowly she sat down on the sand and watched the waves dance, with the shimmer of the moon's reflection. A beautiful night.
She was so enthralled by the ocean that she had yet to notice presence behind her.
"Can I join you?" She didn't even have to turn around to know the owner of that soft voice.
"Sure," Lisa said, eyes still focused forward, admiring the view as Jennie sat herself down beside her. "Couldn't sleep either?" Lisa asked, pulling her knees to her chest and wrapping herself tighter with the blanket. She could see Jennie nodding in her peripheral vision. She too was staring at the ocean.
"Yeah."
Silence filled their space. It was neither uncomfortable nor odd. It was actually nice. Lisa didn't know how long they were silent because the only sound she could focus on was the breeze and the ocean. The waves rolled onto the shore gently and then recoiled back as if it was afraid to touch the sand any further. Lisa's eyes were drawn by the waves but her senses were both focused on the beach and of Jennie.
"You know," Jennie started, voice as soft as the air, "I never imagined I would ever see you again," she spoke in a whisper that had Lisa curling her toes on the sand. "I'm just..." Her voice cracked and this time her attention was no longer on the moon or on the stars or on the water. Her attention was on Jennie, something that was just as beautiful as the view.
Jennie was looking up and blinking rapidly, holding in her tears and Lisa sighed, ready to speak but Jennie continued,
"I hate how stupid I was." Tears started flowing down her cheeks. As if she had been holding them in forever. Jennie pulled her knees to her chest, hugging her legs and hiding her face in her arms. Lisa smiled softly, Jennie was crying yes, but she looked so small and adorable. Aish, what is wrong with me?
"I'm sorry," Jennie cried in her arms, the sound muffled. Lisa chuckled lightly, finding courage to open her blanket and scoot closer to the crying girl. She wrapped her blanket around Jennie's shoulders causing the smaller one to gasp lightly and lift her head. Lisa knew their faces were close, but she also knew she had to ignore the thumping in her chest and focus on making the girl smile.
"Are you going to cry about this all weekend?" Lisa teased earning a pout from Jennie.
"Don't be mean," Jennie whined, turning her face away to wipe her tears and Lisa had to laugh because, again, Jennie was being adorable.
Unbeknown to her, Jennie was also trying to fight back her cheeks from changing color. She hadn't been this close to Lisa in a very long time. The feeling felt new.
Lisa cooed, pulling Jennie closer, "I guess you are going to cry over every little thing," she teased. Jennie groaned in annoyance before leaning her head on Lisa's shoulder.
"Am not."
Lisa laughed, a little breathlessly before leaning her own head on Jennie, "You're hopeless."
Jennie scoffed, "Shut up."
Lisa laughed, "Fine, Fine." It was silent again but then Jennie spoke softer than before,
"I can't wait to get to know the person you are now."
Sitting beside Jennie and hearing that , Lisa couldn't help but wonder what the weekend had in store for her.
