Chapter 21 - Final Chapter

Jennie was cold and she internally scolded herself for forgetting a jacket. It didn't help that she had just had ice cream. She shivered and crossed her arms as her and Lisa walked along the sidewalk.

She may have been cold but having Lisa beside her makes her chest feel warm and comforted. But then, Lisa took hold of her wrist and she gasped from the heat. She could hear the roaring of blood in her ears as Lisa stood in front of her.

She was so close, inches away. Jennie realized then that she couldn't think, couldn't breathe properly. All she could see was Lisa's lips. All she could do was stare into Lisa's eyes, and as she stared, as she really studied the way Lisa studied her...

Oh God she wanted to kiss Lisa.

Before, she would consistently fight these thoughts. She believed she wasn't supposed to feel this... to want this. Now? She was finding herself growing tired of fighting.

Of course she was scared. Never in her life did she ever think she liked women. For a while now she had been going through her own identity crisis. Never knowing why she felt so strongly for Lisa.

But now, she had grown to accept who she was.

Which why she understood the reason why something was rooting her to the spot and why Jennie could not take her eyes off of her. Lisa was the most beautiful girl she knew.

So, she waited. Waited for Lisa, waited for the moment for that first touch. And, deep inside her she knew it.

She knew it would be perfection.

But Lisa didn't. She took a step back and Jennie had never felt so disappointed.

"Hey."

Jennie moved her sight from her phone to the voice. She smiled, a little too forceful as she met the kind eyes of her boyfriend. She stood up and pocketed her phone before crossing her arms and meeting him halfway.

"Hi."

He stood in front of her, studying her, something Jennie could easily recognize since they had been together for so long. Especially since he made no moves to touch her. He was being careful and respecting the space. But, his eyes remained locked into hers and as Jennie stared up at his, she felt nothing.

The only thing she could really feel is sadness because the man in front of her used to be the man she envisioned marrying. He was her first love. And, maybe Taehyung realized it because his eyes looked as sad as Jennie felt. And when his eyes followed the tear that fell from her eyes, realization had hit him. He closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath.

"It's Lisa, isn't?"

And Jennie gasped a quiet sob, "I am so sorry," she whimpered. He opened his eyes and Jennie cried a little harder seeing his own eyes tearing up. But he smiled a painful smile of understanding. He reached forward and placed his hand on her cheek.

"Love isn't something you can control. And, it's okay." He leveled his face with hers and wiped her tears, "I'll be okay. Things between us have changed long before Lisa was here and we both know that." Jennie pressed her cheek closer to his hand and nodded.

It was true.

Even before Lisa showed up, something between Taehyung and Jennie shifted. They were growing up and learning new things about themselves. They had different goals and those goals never met one another. Yet, they remained together because that was all they knew.
