Enid's POV:
I walk to class, blocking out all of what happened last night. Something is wrong with Wednesday. But I don't know what. She left me alone and came back at night.
On the news last night, there was a report of a murder in the woods. I would like to not go into much detail about it because it's so gory and it's just yucky.
I also noticed Wednesday's on her phone a lot more now. Which is odd for her. I walk into the classroom and sit down at my usual spot next to Wednesday. She doesn't pay any attention to me but just doodles in her notebook.
I play on my phone until class starts. "What's that guy's name?" I hear a whisper. I turn my head to see Wednesday pointing at the dude in front of her.
Jason, to be exact. Wait...
"Jason. But you already know that." I say, turning away from her.
"No, I don't, that's why I asked, imbecile." She says, rudely.
Okay, what the actual fuck? I try not to think about it for the rest of class, but it goes by so slowly.

I sit down next to Wednesday at lunch and I notice Yoko staring at me. I move my hands as if saying what, then she eyes Wednesday. I roll my eyes and don't answer her, but rest my head on my hand.
"Jason, right?" I hear next to me.
Wednesday's talking to Jason, I'm betting.
"Um, yeah. You know that, Wednesday." He says. I turn my head to find Wednesday squinting at him.
She shrugs. "Whatever. What are you interested in?" She asks.
By that point, I grab Yoko and pull her away from the table. "The fuck is wrong with her?" She asks once we stop.
"I don't know!" I exclaim.
I look over and watch the two. She seems very intrigued by the conversation. I notice Layla just sitting there awkwardly, then she spots us and stands up.
Layla approaches us and stops. "What's wrong with your girl?" She asks me.
"Um." Is all I can say.
I don't even know if she knows we're dating. "She's fucking flirting with my brother. I thought she was dating you!" Layla says, my heart drops.
She doesn't remember anything. Something happened to her. She would never leave me for someone else. She promised me that.
"Girl, something's wrong with her," Yoko says.
I turn my head away from the table and look at the two girls who stand in front of me. "We need to figure it out. Yoko, I'll meet you in your dorm after school. Layla, you can come too. We'll talk about it there." I say.
"But I wanna talk to Wednesday first, so give me like an hour or less." I walk back towards the table, but Wednesday's not there. I stand and place my hands on the table, leaning on them.
I turn to Jason. "Where's Wednesday?" I ask as I look around the quad.
"Over there." He answers, pointing behind me. I turn around to see Wednesday talking to another girl.
What the hell? I turn back around to also find Yoko staring.
Wednesday's up to something. We know it.
——————————
I sit on my bed in the dorm, waiting for Wednesday. I haven't seen her since classes ended. She hasn't been back to the dorm since. I'm worried for her.
"Enid!" I hear from the hallway.
Who?
"Enid!" Yoko barges in through the door. I jump back, startled.
I don't get a chance to speak. "Come on!" She yells and races back out the door. I ran after her. It's a bit early to hang out, I told them to wait an hour first to see if I could talk to Wednesday alone.
We run into her dorm and she points at the TV. Another murder took place in the woods. They can't even recognize the person this time. They were so badly gutted up. The picture was shown for a short second and I looked away and gagged.
I feel like I'm going to throw up. "What the hell's going on?" I turn my head to see Layla there, eyes widen.
Yoko shrugs. They continue to watch it but I cannot bear it.
"Have any of you guys seen Wednesday?" I ask them. Their gazes are pulled away from the TV to me.
"I think she said she was going to the library or something," Layla says.
I run out of the dorm and to the library, slowing down once I reach the entrance. I carefully peer around the corner until I spot her.
And a boy next to her.
Jason.
They're close together. She never allowed anyone to be that close but me.
I dodge in and out of bookshelves until I find the perfect spot to spy on her. They have their phones out and show each other pictures.
This is not like Wednesday. She's even...
Giggling? What the hell?
