CHAPTER XI: Rescue Her

Haechan's heart raced as he stood in his study, surrounded by maps all around his table. The soft glow of a single lamp cast an intense shadow across his chiseled features as he loaded a sleek black pistol.

Haechan's mind was a whirlwind of strategies and plans, each step carefully calculated to ensure Areum's safety. He adjusted his leathered jacket and strapped a concealed knife to his ankle.

As he made his way to the door, his friends appeared in the doorway, ready to follow Haechan without question. Haechan's voice was low but commanding

"Bear in mind that she's our top priority. We approach discreetly, ensuring her safe extraction, no matter what. Chenle and Jisung, you both stay here to check on the cameras. The rest, follow me"

They exchanged a nod, an unspoken understanding passing between them. As they stepped into the rainy night, the city's neon lights reflected off the damp pavement.

The rain continued to fall in a steady rhythm as they approached Jake's warehouse. Its imposing steel doors loomed ahead, a symbol of the challenges that lay in wait. Haechan's jaw tightened, his gaze unwavering as he assessed the situation.

Suddenly Haechan heard something on his earpiece, it was from Chenle and Jisung "Haechan, Jake just left from the back entrance" Haechan smirked thinking of how easy this would be "Got it"

"Remember, we need to get in quietly," Haechan murmured to the rest of the team, his voice barely audible over the sound of raindrops hitting the pavement

"Our intel suggests there might be guards posted at the main entrance. Renjun, check for any surveillance cameras. Jaemin and Mark, be ready to take out the guards silently"

Renjun swiftly moved to a nearby utility pole, his nimble fingers expertly attaching a small device to the camera feed cables. A flicker of satisfaction crossed his face as the surveillance feed went dark.

Jaemin and Mark slipped forward like a shadow. They approached the guards stationed at the entrance, their movements graceful and soundless. In a matter of seconds, the guards crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

With a nod of approval, Haechan led the way towards the now-vulnerable entrance. His gloved hand wrapped around the metal handle and turned it slowly, the door creaking open just enough to allow them to slip inside.

They moved cautiously, their footsteps muted by the concrete floor. Haechan's senses were heightened, every sound and movement analyzed as he navigated through the maze-like space.

Suddenly, a beam of light sliced through the darkness, revealing a guard patrolling the area ahead. Haechan's eyes locked onto the threat, his body tense as he signaled to his companions to take cover behind a stack of crates.

As the guard approached, Haechan's hand tightened around the grip of his pistol, his breath held in anticipation.

With a swift, precise movement, Jaemin emerged from the shadows and subdued the guard with a calculated blow. The guard crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

Haechan exhaled softly, a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins. He nodded to his companions, acknowledging their silent teamwork. Moving forward, they continued to navigate the warehouse, inching closer to their objective.

As they turned a corner, they were met with a sight that sent a jolt of adrenaline through their veins. A group of armed guards stood before them, their hostile glares a clear warning. Haechan's grip tightened on his pistol. Without a word, they sprang into action.

Mark was the first to react, his fingers dancing over a small remote control. Suddenly, a series of blinding flashes erupted from the ceiling, casting the room into a disorienting strobe of light.

The ensuing confusion made it difficult for the guards to restore their sense of direction as their aim had been impaired by the irregular lighting.

Seizing the advantage, Haechan emerged from the shadows, his movements fluid and precise. He incapacitated one guard after another with calculated strikes. The sound of fists meeting flesh resonated through the air, punctuated by groans of pain.

Haechan's heart pounded in his chest as he engaged in a fierce firefight, his shots echoing through the warehouse. The guards fought back, their shots zipping through the air with deadly intent.

Haechan's instincts kicked in, his body moving with an almost dance-like grace as he sought cover behind a stack of crates. Bullets chipped away at the wood, sending splinters flying.

Mark, his fingers flying across a small device, managed to hack into the warehouse's security system. The blinding strobes intensified, disorienting the guards further and allowing Haechan, Renjun and Jaemin to gain the upper hand.

Finally, the last guard fell to the ground, defeated and they exchanged a nod before continuing to find Areum.

Suddenly they heard faint noises, a mixture of grunts and scuffling. They exchanged looks to each other and moved even further until he stumbled upon a surprising sight.

His steps faltered for a moment. There stood Areum, catching her breath with a grin in her face. The corridor was tense with the aftermath of the intense struggle.

"You didn't have to save me, babe" Areum said sarcastically with a smirk, showing him that she was capable of defending herself

Haechan scoffed out of disbelief and a smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
