CHAPTER XXXII : Dream Come True

❛ ━━・❪ ❁ ❫ ・━━ ❜

Over the past month, the Lee Syndicate had successfully taken over the Song Shadows, not just as a display of dominance but as a strategic move to unite former rival.

Yoona, who was also a major character in Song Shadows is now working with them. All those who had supported Areum through the rough times had also joined the Lee Syndicate, forming a single cohesive unit. Two rival factions had united into a unified entity.

As Areum walked through the warehouse there were only one person she was looking for. Yoona. After a few minutes, she finally found her in Chenle and Jisung's IT room.

"Unnie, you called and you said you have news?" Areum said as she entered the room.

"Yeah but it's confidential" Yoona said indicating that Chenle and Renjun needed to leave the room. The both of them got that and left the room immediately.

After they left, Areum pulled a chair and sat beside Yoona "So what's up?" Areum said. Yoona pulled a file from her and placed it infront of Areum.

"I found her, Areum.. Your mom" Yoona smiled and squeezed Areum's hand.

"Oh my god" Areum hugged her "You're the best!"

Yoona pointed to the file "There's everything in there, pictures, where she is, how has she been doing and.. her new family" Yoona said a bit hesitant, scared of how Areum might react.

Areum opened the file and flip through the pages "She found someone new" Areum said and carved a slow smile "Good for you, Eomma"

As she flip more through the file she saw a family picture "Is that.. her daughter?" Areum asked Yoona with tears filling her eyes.

"Yeah you do. You have a half sister, Areum" Yoona smiled knowing all she wanted was to have a sister "She's a lot younger than you of course, she's turning 10 this year. Your mom married into a normal family and she's based in the UK now"

Areum wiped her tears as she stared at the picture "I'm happy for her. Atleast she got the happy ending she deserved. Do you think.. She would want to meet me, unnie?" Areum asked.

"I think she'll be more than glad to meet you" Yoona flipped to the next page and showed it to Areum.

"Look, I found out that she goes to your old boarding school every 6 months with her family just to see your graduation pictures that was hung in one of the alumni hall. She should be going again in a few days"

Areum lets out a breath of relief "I'm so happy you have no idea, Unnie. Thank you for doing this" Areum gave Yoona a hug.

Yoona broke the hug "So, are you gonna do a UK trip soon or what?" Yoona smiled.

"I'll tell Haechan!" Areum said and ran out the room with the file.

-

Areum stood nervously at the entrance of her old boarding school, her heart pounding with a mix of anxiety and anticipation.

"I'm nervous babe" Areum said to Haechan and he picked her hand and squeezed them gently.

"You wanted this for so long Areum, and now it's finally time. Nothing will go wrong, okay? I'll be by your side the whole time" Haechan said reassuringly and Areum nodded.

"Hey! Remember when we used to steal the janitor's cigarettes and smoke there" Haechan said pointing at the back alley hidden behind the trees, trying to make Areum feel better.

"He was so mad" Areum said and they both laughed. After a few moments of exchanging their old stories Haechan finally spoke.

"You ready?" Haechan asked.

"Yeah, let's go" Areum answered.

-

As Areum's mother, accompanied by her new husband and young daughter, approached the wall of memories, Areum took a deep breath and stepped forward. Her mother's eyes widened in disbelief, tears welling up as she recognized the face she had longed to see for years.

"Eomma" Areum whispered, her voice trembling.

"Areum?" Her mother gasped, covering her mouth with her hands "Is it really you?"

Without a word, they closed the distance between them, embracing each other tightly "Oh how I've missed you so much" Areum choked out, tears streaming down her face.

"I never stopped thinking about you" Her mother replied, her voice breaking with emotion "Every day, I hoped we would find each other again"

The years of separation melted away as they held each other, tears of joy streaming down their faces. Haechan watched from a respectful distance, his heart swelling with pride and happiness for his wife. Areum's mother's family stood nearby, also touched by their reunion.

"Eomma, I want you to meet Haechan" Areum said, pulling back slightly but keeping hold of her mother's hand "He's my husband. We've been married for about a year now" Areum added.

Her mother turned to Haechan, offering a tearful smile "Thank you for taking care of my daughter" She said, her voice full of gratitude.

"It's my honor," Haechan replied warmly and gave Areum's mom a hug "She's an incredible woman just like you" Haechan said and broke the hug.

"Is that.. my sister?" Areum said gesturing towards the little girl that was standing beside her mom's husband.

"Oh! Meet Ava. And yes, Areum. She's your half sister and that's my husband, John"

Areum walked to the little girl and knelt down infront of her "Hey Ava, we look almost the same!" Areum chuckled before she continued.

"I've always dreamed of having a sister. Meeting you is like a dream come true, you know" Areum said.

The young girl's eyes widened in surprise, and she smiled shyly at Areum "I've always wanted a big sister too!" She admitted, her voice filled with excitement.

Areum turned to her mother's husband, extending her hand "And you, John" She said warmly "Thank you for making my mom happy. We're family now, and I'm grateful for the chance to be a part of your lives"

The family gathered around, united in this heartfelt moment, ready to forge new memories together.
