Answers For Broken Hearts

As they returned to the warehouse, Jeno was standing infront of the treatment room, waiting for them.

"Jeno, you're back" Areum gave him a quick hug

"Good to see you again, Areum" Jeno said before taking a step back and starting to examine Minwoo.

"Hanni did CPR on him a while ago so I hope you can take it from here" Areum said.

"He's in a bad shape. We need to get him to a hospital. I can only do so much here"

Areum, hovering anxiously, spoke with a mixture of concern and urgency.

"Alright, just please do whatever you need to. He needs to be able to talk"

Jeno, focused on his task, responded with a reassuring nod.

"I'll do my best" Jeno said and continued to bring him into the treatment room.

After Areum saw Jeno and Minwoo enter the treatment room, she searched for Haechan.

As she found him, he was cleaning a few blood stains from his jacket.

The air hung heavy with unspoken tension as Areum, unable to contain her emotions, pushed him against the wall.

"Why did you take the shot?"

Haechan, meeting her gaze, exhaled a heavy breath before explaining.

"He brought that upon himself" Haechan said and continued to clean his jacket.

"We needed him alive for answers and you fucking know that. Haechan"

"Let's talk later"

"No! You're not gonna run away from this as well. You're fucking talking to me!" She raised her voice.

"I'm tired, Areum" Haechan said, still wiping his jacket.

"God! You're so annoying!" Areum forcefully took the cloth he was using and threw it on the floor, Haechan was dumbfounded before he looked up to Areum.

"This might not be a big deal to you Haechan, but it is for me. If I don't get those words out from him, it's all your fault"

Haechan just stared into her eyes and listened to her.

"You said you were tired? You think i'm not? Your act was so selfish Haechan. I hope you know that" Areum said and was about to leave her when Haechan pulled her hand and turned her around.

"I'm tired of being like this with you, Areum" Haechan's gaze softened at the sight of her troubled wife.

"You were the one that initiated that we should keep our distance until you know the truth for sure, Haechan. Did you forget about that? It pains me that.. you out of all people didn't trust me" Areum said with a shaking tone and tears in her eyes.

Haechan pulled her closer and hugged her. Comforting Areum.

"I'm sorry, I trust you now, okay? I don't fucking care what everyone else says, we'll get through this together even if I get answers from your dad or not okay?" Haechan said with hope in his words but still not getting an answer from Areum.

"Please Areum, I can't go another day without being okay with you, baby" Haechan said rubbing her back.

Areum broke down into tears in his embrace "I've missed you.. so much" Areum said pulling away and looking up to him.

"Same here. How about we go home and freshen up before we check on your dad, hm?" Haechan smiled and Areum nodded to what he said.

"He's stabilised for now but we still need to bring him to the hospital after. You can see him in there" Jeno said to Areum and Haechan.

"Thanks" Areum and Haechan thanked him before going inside the room.

There Minwoo was, lying strapped up on the bed looking rough. His gaze stared at the couple as they walked to his bed.

"How are you?" Areum asked.

"You fucking bitch" Minwoo muttered in a low raspy tone.

"Do not talk to my wife like that" Haechan said obviously triggered by his father in-law's choice of words to his own daughter.

Minwoo scoffed "Don't fucking act like you care because I know you don't"

Areum's eyes started to tear up "You know growing up, all I ever wanted was for you to be proud of me, Appa. I got married to Haechan, I even betrayed him and i'm still not enough for you..." She trailed off.

"As much as I hate you, believe me or not but I never wanted Haechan to take that shot. It pains me to see my own father like this" Areum said and wiped her tears.

"I am done trying to get you to be proud of me because now I know that it will never happen. But I will thank you for one thing. Thank you for making the choice for me to marry Haechan because that's the only good thing you have ever done for me" Areum said and immediately left.

Minwoo chuckled at her words and his gaze traveled to Haechan still standing beside him.

"Get out of my fucking sight" Minwoo said.

"Tell me Minwoo, is that true?" Haechan asked in a deep tone.

"What that she betrayed you because of me?" Minwoo laughed hysterically and that pissed Haechan off.

He took his gun out from his waistband and placed it on Minwoo's forehead, trying to make him talk.

"You think i'm scared of guns? I have been face to face with a gun more times than you now, don't be funny, kid" Minwoo said, still laughing.

Haechan pulled the trigger and bent down to Minwoo's level "You may have forgotten that you're under my roof. So you better talk now or you can die"

"Fuck. You." Minwoo muttered.

"Fine, if you don't want to talk.." Haechan pulled back and walked to the other side of the bed and looked at his wrapped wound beside his chest.

He opened the gauze that was taped on his wound and pushed his gun onto his wound. Minwoo winced at the pain.

"Still don't want to talk?" Haechan asked with a smirk.

Seeing that Minwoo is still keeping his mouth shut Haechan pushed his gun even harder "One more shot here and you're-"

"Fine! Yeah! Okay? I fucking forced her into this" Minwoo couldn't handle the excruciating pain on his wound and Haechan finally got his answer. He pulled his gun away and bent down to him.

"If by some miracle that you have even an ounce of care for Areum, i'm here to reassure you that i'll protect her with all my life. You have ruined what a family looks like to her but i'll make sure that she'll know the meaning of it"

"You can have her. She's fucking useless anyway" Minwoo laughed.

"The only thing that's holding me back from killing you right now is the fact that you're her dad"

Haechan pulled away once again and gave Minwoo one last look before leaving.

"Kill me! I don't give a shit!" Was Minwoo's last words before Haechan shut the door.
