Ever since The Idol was released back in June after almost a year of anticipation, the public couldn't have been more disappointed. The received a overwhelming amount of negative reviews, leading to the series ending early with 5 episodes instead of 6.
BLACKPINK's Jennie made her acting debut on The Idol where she was both praised and criticized. Many were disappointed that Jennie would partake in a show that glorifies r*pe and mistreatment of women.
And to make matters more complicated, producers and HBO executives have revealed that BLACKPINK's Luna was invited and requested to act in the show. They created a character for her named Danny.
Netizens speculate that they tried to get Luna through Jennie but when they couldn't, they got Jennie to fill in for her instead. They only changed Luna's character's name to Dyanne and gave the role to Jennie.
