1st Week of Aug 2023

Hi guys. I hope you're doing well.

Week: 6th August to 12th August 2023

As always let's start with the weather. It's humid, cloudy & sometimes it rains without any warning. I'll say, it's pleasant weather than scorching heat; but this weather is also responsible for flu, influenza etc. And I'm suffering from it since last Sunday.

Weather being the one of the reasons. But another reason was Yoongi's last concert. 

I had mentioned this in the last week's chapter. But I'll mention it again.

So, last Sunday, 6th Aug 2023, AgustD(aka Yoongi )D-DAY Final concert in Seoul. Like many ARMYs, I also felt emotional when I saw Jin & Jhope in the crowd. RM came to the concert and performed there. After the concert ended, Yoongi did a livestream (concert after-party) on Weverse, where he said that, after this livestream, he'll go & join the members and have a drink. And also, he showed is 7 tattoo during that livestream.

And, our first news is around this context. See, after the concert, people, be it local or ARMYs, were going to subway. Naturally, subways gonna get crowded. First there were alleged claims of "gas smell". Then there were alleged claims of a foreigner suddenly screamed in a jam-packed subway, & because of it, people pushed to the side and the stampede happened.

Some passengers claimed that it was that scream of an ARMY, who got emotional while watching Yoongi's livestream when he was showing his tattoo. However, some other passengers aka fellow ARMYs, who were there at the time of chaos happened, said that public were panicking because of the "gas smell" and the fan's screaming.

Fellow ARMY @egcaniza on twitter, originally posted a video, being in the subway, watching the live with others, & eventually screaming in excitement. While they've deleted the video after getting backlash for causing "confusion & panic" by yelling in a public place; they have posted an apology for their actions & shared their sentiments. 

I've seen their now-deleted video. Honestly, I don't think their screams weren't that loud. People in that compartment, didn't seem panicking at all. But the news sites, Pannchoa and Allkpop, took that video & misreported the entire situation. 

It's been about 1 week since the chaos happened. And I wanna make it clear that I'm not justifying screaming, that's borderline immature. But people are confirming that the foreigner ARMY's screaming caused the whole shenanigan, rubs me the wrong way. 

I believe that the "gas smell", "fan screaming", "chemical threat" etc were the cause of the stampede. Maybe people just think a fanbase is a punching bag for every chaos. Especially, its BTS and ARMY.

I apologize for being harsh to the general public here. I wasn't aware then, that people in Seoul, were actually getting stabbed in public. And that's why people got scared and panicked. My deep condolences to the victims of stabbing, their family, friends and loved ones.

Speaking of BTS, our 2nd news, they were asked to perform at the World Scout Jamboree 2023, held in Seoul this year, within 2 days. This is ridiculous. You don't give them exemption saying that they're a k-pop group. But when it came to save your A**, suddenly they're k-pop supergroup BTS! ভাওতাবাজ politicians! 

Honestly, I don't have much to add here. And as for BTS, Jin & Jhope are already in the military. Suga (AgustD) just announced about his military enlistment. V is busy with his solo album "Layover". এই শাসকদলের লোকেরা মানুষকে মানুষ মনে করে না! In short, BTS was too busy to attend the event & I'm happy about that.

This week, an equally gut-wrenching & heart-breaking news came from Jadavpur University. Swapnadip Kundu, a first-year undergraduate student of Bengali (Honours), fell from the balcony of the main hostel building in the university around 11:45 pm on August 9. He was taken to a hospital, where he died at 4:30 am on Thursday.

So far, police has arrested 3 for their alleged roles in this disgusting; Deepshekhar Dutta, a second-year economics student, and Manotosh Ghosh, a second-year sociology student & Sourabh Chowdhury, ex-student of the Uni who did their MSc in Math in 2022.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the victim was subjected to intense ragging, sources in the police, adding that they are probing a sexual harassment angle.

Frankly speaking, I'm upset, disturbed & helpless. That little boy had a bright future & these অমানুষ ruined everything. Many private institutes do prevention-campaigns on ragging. Trust me, in private institutes, more than ragging, humiliation is much common. 

But my point is, after all these years, all of the "awareness, prevention-campaigns", why are we still unable to save innocent lives? Why are we keep failing at this? Why these inhumane people get away with things, just because someone in power has their backs?

Who will change this? When will it change? Am I being too delusional?

Hey there, I wanna briefly mention tho. I had a dentist appointment today. I was extremely scared. I went there to get off one of my wisdom teeth.

I know it's a google image. But as my edit, yes, my wisdom tooth was growing towards the side. So, when I tried to open my mouth, that wisdom tooth got hidden. It was a trouble for more than 5 years. Luckily, today's dentist was an expert and I didn't had much trouble or pain. But, I got wet while on my way home. So, yeah. I'm sick a lot.

So, that's it for today. I'll go & get some rest.
