Hi guys. I hope you're doing well.
First of all, শুভ সপ্তমী or Happy Saptami to all of you. I hope you have a great time. And those who are facing hardships, may your sufferings begone and all the blessings of God and Angels bestows upon you & your loved ones. Dear Reader, I hope you and your loved one are safe wherever you are. Take care.
So, the last chapter I posted, was around Mahalaya. Its been a week since. And a lot has happened.
Disclaimer: the news/incidents I mention in my chapters, I request you, dear Reader, please do your own research and form your own opinion. Multiple sources can give you multiple perspectives, expand your knowledge & give you clarity on certain situations.
The flood situation in Sikkim(India), is getting worst day by day. From a recent report of BBC, "Shyam Babu Prasad was asleep when the deluge struck his home.
He and his family used to live in Lal Bazar, a busy market area located on the banks of Teesta river in India's Sikkim state.
'All of a sudden, a wave about 15ft high hit our home and all of us were thrown by its force,' Mr Prasad said.
Mr Prasad is among the 80,000 people whose lives were upended after a glacial lake burst its banks, triggering deadly flash floods in the Himalayan state. At least 70 people, including nine soldiers, have died, thousands have been displaced and 76 people are still missing since the deluge on 4 October."
Communal Violence is still persistent in Manipur(India). Innocent people are getting abducted & killed. Clash happened between Protesters and Police when the State reimposed mobile internet ban after the gruesome murder of two minors. State, Central - all will say, "We'll look into the matter. We're handing over the investigation to CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation)".... blah, blah, blah.
Hospital in Gaza got bombed. According to Aljazeera.com, "Nearly 500 people have been killed in an Israeli air attack on the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in the besieged Gaza Strip". And ever since, people got even divided. Question arise, how inhumane you have to be to bomb a hospital? Honestly, the torment Palestinian people are facing from Israel Govt., to me, its same as what Hitler did to Jewish people during World War II. I think Israel is being greedy and inhumane for kicking out Palestinian people from their homes. But I won't defend Hamas for their actions, what they did to Israeli people. Giving back the pain & suffering to your oppressor, will leave you with nothing but a graveyard. I hope Palestine and Israel come to a peaceful terms as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Durga Puja Festival here at my state, West Bengal(India), is at full swing. Last week, in Mahalaya Day, I saw jam-packed crowd in every lane, in verge of stampede, courtesy to InstaStory with caption, "এটা মহালয়া না নবমী?" (lit. Is this Mahalaya or Navami?)
For quick info, Mahalaya to Kojagori Purnima is considered Devipaksha. So, Mahalaya would be 0th Day. Prathama would be 1st Day. Dwiteeya would be 2nd Day. Triteeya would be 3rd Day. You get the picture. And today is the 7th Day, Saptami.
Yesterday, on Sashthi, my father, my sister and I went Sealdah to see Thakur (Idol of Goddess Durga, Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Saraswati, Lord Kartike, Lord Ganesha and Mahishasur). We went in the morning. Hot, sunny day. I'm a bad photographer. I hope to get better at photography. (আমি আমার বোনকে এতটুকু ভালো রাখতে পারি না 😭)
Usually, people would wander around from pandal to pandal, take pictures of themselves, the Idol, the pandal decorations; eat a lot and also many would stay up late at night wandering to see the lighting decorations. My father don't allow us to wander around at night as its unsafe when drunk people & goons roaming around such time. Most people, who stay up late at night, roam around in groups and no one roams alone at that time.
During the Festive season like this, clothing stores put eye-catchy, gorgeous looking clothes on the display. Sadly, most of them aren't eye-catchy to me. And the ones that do grab my attention, aren't in my size. Besides, I'm better of without new red dresses. For me at least, nothing can beat a bright red dress with golden embroidery. Red is bright, loud, can get on your face sometimes, isn't aware of itself some occasions; but still its my favourite colour.
And now, please excuse me. I'll go and do my mehendi design.
So, that's a wrap for today. I hope to see you in the next chapter.
Take care.
Bye.
