Ryke:

I walked into mine and Caitlin's favourite cafe. I just want my coffee and leave. It's been a year since she's left and I need to get over her. I did try and win her back but when I saw her she's already met another guy. They were under a tree and laughing and she looked up at him.

"Just a coffee please." The waitress nodded. I grabbed my phone out of my jeans. "Coffee guy?" I flicked my head towards the woman speaking behind me as I wait for mine. It was Allie. Aspens first midwife before my brother sent her away and she had the babies in the city.

"Yeah." I shrugged placing my phone back into my pocket. "Over there." I flicked my head to the barista and saw her pointing towards the collect part. I haven't been here in ages I forgot about it. I headed over there. It was right next to mine and Caitlin's spot.

"First time here?" I turned to Allie. She smiles. I don't give her one back. I hate this cafe now. But it's the only one that's open because of the festival on the streets. "No, I haven't been here in months." I shrugged and she nodded.

"So, how's the little twins?" She asks. And I just stare at her. "They're fine." I tell her as I see my coffee almost been made. And I see probably hers being made next to mine, "what did she call them again?" I groan.

"Keaton and Koen." She just stares at me. "Do you want me to leave or something because..." my name was called and I went to grab my coffee and they placed hers right next to mine as her name was called. I grabbed mine and left. She was hesitant.

"Allie?" She gave me a nod. "Aspen, wants you to come over one of the time to speak to you." She nodded with a smile. "Tell her to give me a ring when free." I nodded and headed down the path my car. The festival is starting to come down the road and I need to leave quick or I wouldn't be able to get my car until tomorrow.

I drove down the road just missing the festival and headed down to the ranch. I see the sign and turned in. I parked up next to Aspen's car as she opens the door and Nina barges through. I whistled and she flicked her head towards me and ran up to the car. I swing the door open and she jumped on my lap and into the passenger seat. "Where are you going brother?" I turned to the window and see Ryder standing there. I stroke Nina's head.

"I'm going out." I tell him shutting my foot. He stares at me and rolls his eyes. I see Aspen picking up both of her sons. "The festival is closing off this road, because there's nothing around. We wouldn't be able to leave until tomorrow and if you leave no you won't be back." I rolled my eyes.

"I know and I'm going out the back way." I pointed down the road. He nodded. "Just get back tonight, you know how dad is." I rolled my eyes before agreeing. I do. He barely does because he had Catherine. But the situation was ruined with her telling Aspen she needs to leave so he left her.

I nodded. "Aspen!" I yelled and she walked up to my car. Ryder picked up Keaton. "Yeah?" She says lifting Koen up on her hip. "Allie said she would love to come and have dinner." She nodded. "And to give her a call when you can and tell her details." She nodded grabbing her phone and then passing Koen onto Ryder. My brother.

She called her up. "You better be there, Ryke, she's put all the trouble into this for all of us to have a good time." I rolled my eyes. Aspens a good friend. I'll be there.

"I'll be there." Nina barks. "And Nina." I told him and pulled away. This is the day that Caitlin left. So, I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone. A year ago today. I grumbled.

"So, todays been crap." Nina barks and curls into the chair and sat down. I stroked her forehead. "The only thing that I would stand today." She puts her head up. I drove past Aspens and Ryders cabins and turned out of the back. I look in my back mirror to see nothing was happening.

I drove down the country road until I hit the field. This is my normal spot but it's quicker the opposite direction, but it's the only way I can come in and out with a festival. They go down every street except for this one, I parked up in the car park.

I opened the door and Nina jumps out. She sits down at my feet and then I grabbed the ball out of my glove compartment and thrown it for her.

She sprints after it. I didn't even expect to have a dog, but when Aspen and Ryder come up to me with a puppy that needed a home a few weeks after Caitlin left, i needed someone or something there. Something to keep me going.

She drops it at me feet. And then runs back barking at me to throw it for her, I bend down and grabbed the ball. "Ryke?" I flicked my head over my shoulder.

A familiar brunette stands behind me, I meet her bright green eyes and the run down the outfit she was wearing, a oversized jumper, jeans and cowboy boots. I take another look at her jumper. It wasn't a woman's it was a males jumper, she's got a boyfriend? A loud and sharp bark from bellow her feet to see a German Shepard.

"Nina, down." I use my hand and gesture for her to go on her stomach. "He's friendly, not really to humans though so I wouldn't touch him." I nodded. "Out." The German shepherd ran after her. Barging into her.

"Rexen! Give her a break." She was a lot quicker than he was. Even with full speed. "How come your here?" I asked her and she stares at me. Her green ones are trying to figure me out. "You know this is private land and my fiancé owns it." She tells me and I looked into her emerald green eyes to see if she was lying. I've been here since Nina was a pup.

"My house is that one." She points towards a house on the opposite side of the field. It was like the same one as mine but smaller. "We just hasn't told you to stay off because I don't care about people coming on here much. But it's only you that comes on the field." I nodded.

"I must get going though." I shrugged, "no, it's fine, it's nice to have someone to walk Rex with since Quinton doesn't do much." She shrugged and I nodded.

"You can join if you like?" She said carrying on her walk. She whistled and Rex came bounding next to her. Nina gesture for me to follow and barked. "Alright girl we'll walk with them."
