Ryke:
Four years later:

"You two little shits!" I heard Allie yell and I flicked my head over the sofa to see what's going on. "Nina! Rosa!" Rex follows her behind as he's tired now and just collapses on the end of the sofa next to me. He lets out a huff can't keep up with Nina and Rosa.

Rosa is a cocker spaniel. She does not sit still. She had the energy like a border collie, but will collapse soon, I laughed. "Ryke!" I pretend to be asleep not wanting to get involved. "Ryke! The dogs ripped all your hat." My head shot up to see in on her head and I let out a sigh in relief.

"See your up. Your hat is fine but your slippers aren't." She slaps them onto my bare chest. "Shit." I never wore this slippers but I always moaned my feet are cold when I finished work on the ranch and took my boots off so Allie got me slippers.

"You don't care about them anyway! You never wore them." She goes to walk away but I grab her wrist and pull her to me and twist the both of us around now she's on the bottom and I'm on top.

"I do, I just don't want to ruin them." She raises an eyebrow.  I didn't like them, but I won't let her know that because it's the first thing she brought me. "I do love them." I looked at them. "Loved. As they're ripped to pieces. But I loved that. And I wanted to make sure not to wreck them as they're the first thing that you got me." I whispered and she smiled before kissing me.

"Anyway, come on Evie wants me at work on time this time. I can't be late." I laughed as her car is in the shop because it broken down on her last night on the way back from work. I got to pick her up and drop her off.

But i don't mind it. I loved doing it. I sat in my truck, and she jumps and we headed to work. I dropped her off and headed back to the ranch and went to the main cabin.

"Ryke!" I heard Aspen shouting and I flicked my head to see Ryder carrying Nico. "Help us to the vets." I nodded and I rushed to my car and gestured for them to follow and they did. I opened the back doors as they helped Nico into the back and Ryder sits next to him.

Nico cries sending more tears from both Aspen and Ryder. Ryder was in desperate tears. "Come on boy." He whispers and he cries out. I saw in the mirror how much pain he was in. Tears already flooding my eyes as I watched them together. They've been together for so long. I can't even count how long it has been.

I pulled up to the closest vets there is, and rushed in. "My dogs badly injured, can we please get him checked out. He has bad authorities and fell down a ditch." He fought back the tears as he was getting this done.

"Yeah, of course one of our veterinary nurses are free." They took him in. I saw that Ryder was shaking as I waited in the waiting room. I wasn't going to leave them. I wasn't going to be in their presence for what ever was going to happen. I grabbed my phone. I won't call Allie, I'm just going to warn her that I'm at the vets, and that something has happened to Nico. We don't know we got to wait for a bit.

But ten minutes later, they're still in the room and Allies name come onto my phone. I answered it. "What's going on?" She asks me. She's panicked. Now I wished I waited for her to come home from work before telling her. "Ryder and Aspen found Nico in the ditch and he's badly injured. We took him to the vets." I told her.

"Evie! I have to go. I'll speak to you why I'm leaving when-" she was cut off. "No! Don't come." She was silent. "That sounded rude. I didn't mean to Allie. I'm sorry."

"It's fine. I understand they'll need to be on their own. I'll speak later." She ended the call and left me alone with nothing. Fuck!

Aspen comes out with the vet and she goes over to the counter and pays for something before turning to me. Her eyes are blood shot red from crying so much. Before giving me a nod telling me that he was no longer going to be with us soon.

"Do you want to say goodbye, Ryke?" She asks me and I shook my head, even though I wanted to and he was the best dog anyone could ask for. It's their time to say goodbye. I don't want to get in their way because they both deserve a proper goodbye, without me being there.

She nodded before the vet and her went back into the room. Tears finally fell down my cheek. He was actually gone. "Fuck!" I grumbled. I closed my thoughts because the memories from both me and Nico kept running through my head. Then the door finally opened to see Ryder standing there with emotionless face. Just the tears running down his cheek and then he finally collapsed against the floor.

Aspen ran over to him and knelt down to his height and hugged him for dear life. A sob left his lips as he held onto her. She looked up at me and nodded. Tears fall down my cheeks harder. My brothers best friend had just took his final last breath in his arms.  Ten steps away was where his best friends body lay. Fuck. I walked over to my brother and my eyes wonder to the door where Nico's body laid to see him. Lifeless. I knelt down next to them and hugged them both tight.

"I'm so sorry brother." I whispered and he cried louder, I held him tight not knowing what else to do or say.

~~~
I collapse on the bed, I had my friend to go and pick up Allie. I couldn't drive again after I dropped down on our bed. She runs inside to see me laying there. Even though Nico was not my dog, he was a big part in our family, and I wouldn't have it changed for the world.
Allie runs into bed and curls into me. "He's gone isn't he?" I nodded. Tears stung her eyes as she tries to hold them back. She crawls into the bed and curls into me. "I'm so sorry. I want to go and say that to Ryder and Aspen and their children. But I know they wouldn't want to see anyone today."
I nodded. Ryder didn't say anything, Aspen had to drag him out of the vet and out of the truck to bring him back home. Allie hugged me knowing the death hit all of us. I remember when Nico was a puppy and Ryder was dating Catherine that time. And he came in with a pounce and her bra wrapped around him and he trips over the strap and landed in front of everyone. Everyone laughed but Ryder was the one who came running over to him to make sure that he was alright.
The amount of times I had him help with the cows and sheep, to make sure that we have them all ready in one place for training. God... that dog was the best dog anyone could ask for. He did nothing wrong and was the life of the party.
Miss you, little buddy.
