"So, Ryke." I said as he stuff Ninas ball in his pocket. He turns to me. His hat swings around. His short but long enough for anyone to run their hand through jet black hair. "Allie." He replies staring at the dogs. Watching mine at every movement.
"Don't you have a massive ranch where you can walk the dog?" I asked with my hands on my hips. Curious because from the stories of Aspen. That ranch is huge. I thought mine and Quinton's is massive. That one is ten times bigger. "I do." He shrugged.
"But, I like to get away." I smiled and I know exactly the feeling, this is my safe place. But when I found him and curious outside my window I watch him. Quinton saw me one day and got angry and took it out on me. Now I hope he doesn't see me now.
"I understand." I tell him. I stand quite close to him and I didn't recognise it one bit. I was too unsure of what I was doing. I was watching the dogs. "Did Aspen call you?" He asks me and I nodded.
"Yeah, it's Friday at six." I nodded. I didn't even know the time. "Is your fiancé coming?" He asks me. "Why are you jealous Mr. Kingston?" I joked and he rolled his eyes. "Not one bit Allie." He quickened his pace. Did I say something wrong?
"So is he?" I catched up to him. I was basically sprinting next to him. "Maybe, I have to ask him. He wasn't in." I shrugged. He's probably at the bar getting drunk. Or he's back now and sees me here with him. He turns to face me. His blue almost black eyes staring into my green ones. There's fire in them.
The loud sound of music bounding down the road. We both flicked our heads towards it. It was a massive tuck made up of lights. People surrounding and screaming and singing. The festival.
"Shit!" He groans. I turned towards him. I stare at him confused. "Nina!" He shouts going into his pocket and grabbing out a lead. I've never seen him using the lead before. He clips on the lead and then she started to bark. "Rexon!" I yelled and he came to my ankle. Nina was barking. Loud and endlessly as the people turned around to look towards us but then carried on.
"Nina." He whistled and ran a different direction. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket. "Heal!" Rex stayed at my feet and grabbed his ball so he never left my feet. "Does she have a problem with music?" I shout over it. He stares at me while running and keeping her busy.
"She was found in a dumpster, we don't know what happened so every time there's music she's turns into a lunatic." I can see that. When she turns to them and ready to bark. He nudges on the lead and calls her name and she's fine.
"You can stay at mine until they leave?" I shrugged and he stares at me. "What about your fiancé?" He says. I shrugged. Pretending everything is alright. It wouldn't be when he leaves. "Come on." I gestured for them to follow. We headed up the hill a different way than the festival. Longer but safer.
I see she was still struggling with the music. "Does she leave the music alone with other dogs?" I asked him. He shakes his head. "Ryders got a dog, we tried that but it doesn't work." I nodded.
After a while we walked up to the front door. The music is long gone and we're no longer able to hear it. "I guess I can't get my truck for a while." He groans as he walked into the house. Nina is still kept on the lead. "You can take her off." I shrugged. He squats down in front of her. She's up to him and rub her against him. He unclips the lead and I thrown Rex's ball and he ran through the house and he follows.
"I though the festival don't come down this road." He tells me and I shake my head. Then rolled my eyes. Bad habit from Quinton. "Don't worry, this is your normal walk and they've ruined it." I told him over my shoulder as I walked into the kitchen. "Coffee?" I smiled looking over my shoulder.
"Yes please." I nodded and jumped onto the side grabbing the coffee and started making the coffee.
"Allie! Who's dog is that?!" I flicked my head to Quinton's voice as the dogs barged into the kitchen.
"Ryke's." I gestured and he turns to him and gave him a scowl. "Your the boy she's staring out of the window for." I chocked on my breath. I gave him his coffee. "His dog was having a reaction to the music. So I brought him back."
He stares at him. "I need to talk to you when he leaves." He points to me. I nodded and gulped. Knowing it won't be a good talk. Ryke is looking between the both of us. Trying to figure something out.
"Oh, remember Aspen and Ryder?" I tell him and he nodded. "Well, they've invited us for dinner. Would you come with me for it?" I asked him. He stares at me. He raises an eyebrow. "What day and time?" He asks me. "Friday and six." I answered immediately.
"I'll think about it." He says taking my coffee that I made for myself and leaving the room and going into his study. I dropped down on the chair opposite. "Well he was lovely." He takes a sip out of his coffee.
"Does he always treat you like this?" He asks me and I shook my head.
"And another thing... are you watching me?" He asks me. I felt my cheeks burn up. "No!" I say too quickly and he knows I'm lying and he just gave me a nod. Great. This has got a lot awkward now.
After a while the festival has decreased and it was time for him to leave. He did think it would take longer, but he insisted he had to go. And he is too stubborn.
"You know, I thought you lived in the town?" He finally says. Staring at me. Like I couldn't move in this amount of time since the last interaction we had.
"I did." I finally tell him. "But I heard amazing stories from Aspen about this place. So me and Quinton moved to this place." She shrugged and he nodded. He looked down at my fingers to see the giant ring on my finger.
"Nina!" He yells and the both of them came barging into the room. He grabs the lead. "Just incase there's still some music." I nodded. "I'll see you around then." I tell him and he nodded. "Thanks for letting me stay." I gave him a nod before he headed out and the way we came and into this house.
"I've told you to leave that guy alone." I felt the sharp pain of a palm across my face swinging my head left.
