Thirteen

Allie:

I stood there for five minutes. There was no sound and nothing going on. I walked outside the cabin to see Rex at his feet, then this gorgeous woman standing at the end of the porch. I turned to Ryke to see him shocked. Doesn't know what to do.

Rex was growling at Ryke's feet as they realised something was going on. "Allie..." he says. More like a whisper. I turned to him. He was showing no emotion, just staring at this woman like nothing was happening anymore.

"I want you to take Rex back inside and don't leave until I told you too." He tells me and I nodded as I grabbed Rex's collar and whistled and he followed me. We walked inside as I walked over to the bed and dropped down. Who was she? She was absolutely stunning to say the least. Her light skin with light brown hair that wrapped into a bun on top of her head. Her green eyes that watched all of our movements.

I see in the window, that the curtains were wide open and I see the two of them. He changes. His face curls into a massive smile and so does she as he walks over to her and grabbed her neck and pulled her closer as his lips crash against hers. They both closed their eyes and I just see that he actually cares for this woman. That he has a girlfriend and I've basically wanted him to take my pain away from Quinton. God I'm so stupid. He knows I like him from what Quinton told him about me always looking out of the window.

God, where's my phone! I looked around and grabbed it out of my bag. I looked back out of the window to see them talking. He's happy. He's smiling. I heard a bark outside. I knew it was from Nina. I grabbed my phone and searched for another place to stay. I knew me staying here wouldn't be the best as I'll just affect this relationship for them two.

The door opens and I see him standing there. "I hope this is alright for you." I flicked my head to the woman who was clinging to his arm, he looks down at her and smiled, then turned back to me, I stare at them. "I'm going to move." I admit to him and he stares at me confused. He thought I was happy here? Happy to have Aspen and Ryder and all of the people who work and live on this ranch.

"Thank you for the offer and the help but my dad offered to help me out after I told him the story." I see his eyes flare with annoyance. "The dad who sent you to Quinton. The dad who's best friends with him."

"The dad who offered me a place to stay after finding out about Quinton!" I snapped at him. His eyes glared in anger. Annoyance. Everything in between. There was no sign of being happy anymore. "The dad that changed your birth control when you was with Quinton every time he goes around so he can have a grandchild and for fill his request of Quinton to have a child by the end of it to get the money for him." That stung. I didn't know that but how does he know that.

"When you said he offered you a home Allie. So did we. We gave you a cabin for you and Rex." I cross my arms annoyed. And Rex barked saying it was true. So did Nina. I turned to Rex. He was meant to be on my side not his.

I turned to Ryke. "It's best if I go." I admit and he shakes his head. He won't let me even if I try. I let out a sigh. "Your not leaving Allie." He tells me and I just stare at him. He can't keep me here. "Listen, if you being here makes Quinton stay away. Because as soon as you leave. He's going to go after you. If you stay your safe and Quinton can't come near you."

I stare at him. He's telling the truth because all this is going to cause me is to live with Quinton again. I just escaped him. "I'll go and get Aspen to speak to you." He grabs his phone out of his pocket and called Aspen and he leaves the room leaving me with the woman. She's dressed like she's going to a meeting not a ranch.

"What's your name?" I asked her and she turns to me and she walks over to me and sat down next to me. "Caitlin." She holds out her hand for me to grab. "Allie." I grabbed shook it.

"How do you know Ryke, Aspen and Ryder?" She asks me. I stare at her and confused on what to say. "I was Aspen's first midwife before she moved." I told her. She nodded and then she turned to the door. "You?'" I asked her.

"Ryke's ex that I moved  to be my dream but it's not what I thought, but want to make it work and I came back." Who's dream isn't this. This is just a lovely place. It's calm and peaceful. And what I heard from Aspen. She moved to the city that is loud and no where near this.

She stares at me. I stare at her thinking there's something else. But I couldn't put my finger on it. Aspen swings the door open and flicked her head towards me. Then to Caitlin. Her face changes into anger as soon as she seen her. "Can you leave Caitlin? Ryke wants to speak to you." She nods standing up and leaving. She walks out of the cabin and skips down to Ryke. He smiles down at her and then presses a kiss against her lips. Before they both jumped in their cars and drove off the same direction.

"I hate her." Aspen grumbles underneath her breath and turns to me. "Why was Ryke telling me you wanted to leave?" She asks me as I stare out of the window still where i saw them leave.

"I'm just a problem that you've got to deal with because of what happened with Quinton." I tell her and her eyes flared with anger and she shook her head. "Allie, you would never be a problem, we saved you and offered this place, if you was going to be a problem then we wouldn't offer and help out." She tells me.

I face her. "You'll never be a problem Allie." She tells me as she leans over to me and hugs me tight. I felt tears form in my eyes. "You don't have to leave as this is your home now Al." A tear fell down my cheek.

"Thank you, thank you Aspen." I whispered and she smiles and gives me a nod before leaving me alone. "You don't need to thank me, Allie. Just don't leave when we want to make sure you don't get close to Quinton again." I nodded as I hugged her tight.

I'll try and make it work here. If it doesn't then I'm going to move.
