Song: Human - Christina Perri

..............................

His face frowned in shock for a second and his eyes glowed with something I couldn't describe but that left me shuddering and cold inside.

Thum, thum, thum-

My heart beat was so loud and fast that I was almost sure they all could hear it. At any moment from now, he would yell at me or simply stepped aside and exposed me to every one. I'd become our course voyeur; worst, who knows what this angry guy might do to me. And there was nothing I could do to prevent it.

Thum, thum, thum-

But Hayden just stood there, quickly masking his initial astonishment and replaced it with a cold harsh expression. If I hadn't already been froze in spot I would probably have swallowed in fear and expectation. What is he waiting for?

"Found something, Hayden?" that man's voice pushed me out of my trance, but we both kept our eyes locked. I only see darkness in his grey ones, shining with some strange spark.

"Actually, yes." he stated and my guts fell.

That's it. I'm screwed.

He lifted one arm and I shut my eyes close, bracing myself for the worst. I nearly gasped when I felt a soft brush on the top of my head and, startled, open my eyes again.

I watched in shock as he took the shoebox they were talking about from the shelf above my frame and closed the wardrobe back shut. What the- My knees were shaking so bad that I almost fell. Did he just ignore me?

Click.

And now he locked the closed? Great, I was trapped. Why on earth? I was breathing way too fast and my body was trembling as I brushed the wooden door looking for some solid support. My stomach felt like made of jelly at the impression and rush. What the hell was he doing?

Maybe this was all a plan for tormenting me later. I remember Sadie's words, he was rancorous. OMG. Maybe he trapped me here so he could reveal my compromising situation with a big crowd, or at the right moment, or-

Thum, thum, thum-

Breathe, Arielle!

People kept talking outside the wardrobe and I forced myself to calm down and pay attention. Freaking out wouldn't help anybody here.

"-enough."

The angry man chuckled, but it was a terrifying laugh that made me shiver. "Fuck me if this is enough." he spat and I stuck myself to the wooden door, trying to catch a glimpse of the outside through the clapboard. The menacing man was towering over Bryce silhouette crawling the box and taking bills from it. "You barely collected half of your debt and the weed's all gone." he clicked his tongue and a nasty shudder caressed my spine. "Wrong move, kiddo."

Paris let out a soft cry. "Please, I'll pay it triple by the end of the week. I swear! Just- Don't hurt him... Please-"

"Alright. Alright, calm down, sweety. There's no need to make a scene." the man sighed. "I'll take your offer."

Both friends seemed taken aback and Hayden still not reacting, leaning in the back like this didn't go with him.

"You will?" Paris sniffled and Bryce frowned.

The man nodded. "Of 'course. You see? I've came here with the thought of breaking your knees and every fucking single bone on that useless body of yours." I gasped and so did they, horrified. "But I'll take that. You got until the end of the week to pay it triple. Yes?"
