Song: Halo - Starset

..............................

This was certainly as wild as I expected it to be.

Sadie and I arrived there after making a stop by her place to leave our things and dressed a little more... Well, more appropriately. And between one thing and another it was pass 11 pm when we finally made it there.

The Bricks were beyond the city limits, in the middle of nowhere, and had to admit that it kinda creep me out at first. When we reached the bridge from where everyone parked their vehicles I glanced around and a shiver ran down my spine. Even through the closed windows I could feel the loud beat from the speakers far from there and smell the weed coming in waves from some of the groups camping around the place.

Are you sure about this?

My unspoken question was quickly solved when Sadie didn't even blink and opened her door. I sighed, shoving my nerves on the back of my mind. This is what you wanted, Arielle. If Sadie can, so do you.

I unbuckle my seatbelt and followed her outside. As soon as the cold air brushed my skin some of the people on that 'parking lot' turned their gazes our way, examining us with frowns and weird looks. Couldn't actually blame them, I mean, beside the sexy top and Sadie's military boots I was clearly out of place. I felt like a fish out of the water. Everyone seemed older than me, darker, higher... something in that environment screamed 'dangerous' and I again had the feeling I should get back to the car and drive away.

"Come on." Sadie said, linking our arms, and walked confidently ignoring the stares some of the presents were throwing our way.

Lucky her. I was more self-conscious than ever as I walked beside her, not really knowing where she was leading us to. Something about this scared the shit out of me, but at the same time I found in me the longing to stay and see how this hole race's thing ended up.

Maybe I could even get in some of the cars and all... Okay, no, but a girl can dream, right?

Sadie gracefully dodged the groups of people and pulled us further into the ruins, like she know exactly where she was going to. That made me wonder if she'd already been here before. And if so, how come she didn't tell me?

I was about to ask her, but her face lightened up as she gestured forward and waved.

"There they are."

"Who-" I started to turn around at the same time our names were being called and then I saw them.

It was one of the groups splashed around, sitting on some rocks. They were about ten people and I recognized some familiar faces from Milton: Janice Roller form our cheer squad, Tessa Blane, Paul Martin , Dan Stivenson, Emily Bishop... and Hayden Walker.

My breath got stuck in my throat.

Why?!

Just why? Did I really have to find him at every fucking turn?

Sadie pulled me towards them and when his grey eyes found mine, he tensed as a shiver ran down my spine; as if he despites the sight of us approaching. Well, more like me approaching.

Just great.

Emily, who was on his lap, smiled at us and waved back, apparently unbothered by Hayden's change of mood. A second later he buried his face in her neck I immediately diverted my gaze, awkwardly.
