I walked out into the rain, smiling when I saw Bella near her car. Her nice car. If it was a color like silver or black, the shiny Mazda wouldn't stand out too much, but clearly she had fun choosing the sparkly red paint.
"Nice ride." I complemented, still too far away for a normal person to hear. I wasn't sure why, but I kind of felt like she had basic superhero powers. Maybe it's because she obviously has super speed and super strength. I'm so going to get her to admit I'm right.
Bella rolled her eyes, almost like she caught on to what I was doing, but refused to respond.
"Did you know it's rude to not answer when someone's talking to you?" I asked with a smug, knowing smirk on my face.
"I must not have heard you." Bella responded curtly, her tone clearly trying to end the conversation. Like in the hospital, I felt the urge to get closer to her, like she was a magnet. Still keeping the smug, joking manor on my face, I stepped closer to her and pretended to examine her glorious facial features.
"You're really bad at lying." I told her. Her nose scrunched and she scowled at me. I could just hear her calling me an ass inside her head.
"If your going to be like this I'll just leave and do the project myself." She threatened. I sighed and rolled my eyes before pulling out the list I made with her during biology from my pocket and thrusted it into her hands.
"Mr.Banner has posters for us already, so we just need to get supplies to decorate it." I told her.
"So we need construction paper, ribbon, tape and/or glue and markers." Bella listed, mainly to herself. "Ok. We can get the supplies and go to the bookstore and try to do some research."
I nodded in agreement and we got into our respective vehicles, meeting up at the local crafts store. We got yellow, red and green paper, which we were going to glue and tape on and use as spaces to divide the information. We also got blue ribbon to glue onto the top and bottom of the poster and two packs of markers, a ruler, the glue and scotch tape and some erasers.
I was going to pay for it but a white flash appeared in front of me and I saw the employee was now holding a wad of cash in one hand. She waved us off, going back to the small desk on her side of the register to finish what looked like a worksheet from history class.
We decided to check out the bookstore but there wasn't really anything there, so we decided we would both ask our guardians for information and jot it down.
"I can't believe how barren that store is." I said once we exited the building. Bella giggled. I liked seeing her relaxed around me. She was always so on edge but once we entered the craft store, we just teased each other and made pointless small talk. It was fun.
"That's Forks for you." Bella claimed, sliding her keys out of her pocket. She looked up at me, her eyes a vibrant gold color. They were black Friday, and I wondered what makes her eyes such an unnatural, stunning color. "This was fun."
"It was." I agreed, chastising myself quickly before I ruined the moment. "It would be perfect if you could at least vaguely answer one question honestly." Her eyes became guarded and her chin raised up defensively.
"One." She allowed, her voice a knife.
"Were you anywhere near me when that Subaru almost killed me?"
Chirp. . .chirp chirp. . .
"No." And with that, she ran at a speed that she should not be able to run at and hopped into her Mazda, speeding off.
Well damn.

For the rest of the month Bella and I avoided the glaring fact she was definitly not human and instead got an A on our poster and talked.
