Epilogue

It's like reading New Moon 😭I seriously felt a lance stab into my heart when I started writing "Chapter Twenty-one" and then had to delete it

One Month Later. . .

Edward

Alice and Rose giggled, beaming like a proud PTA mom or a Karen that finally won an argument. "When are you going to tell me what's going on?" I wondered, leaning against the door. My tuxedo did not allow too much movement, so it was one of the few things I could do.

(Disclaimer: I am not a guy and have never worn a tuxedo so I don't know if this is true lol)

"You'll see." Bella called from upstairs. I focused on the sound of her voice, finding the void that should be her thoughts and pushing against the barrier. All I got was a chuckle. Alice was translating the Magna Carta into Arabic and Rose was thinking about Emmett, so they were no help.

Esme and Carlisle, uncharacteristically, we're letting themselves think about their alone time, so I steered clear of them, too. I huffed in frustration.

"Oh, stop being such a know it all." Bella teased, earning a chuckle from Emmett. Jasper dashed down, shooting a playful glare at Alice before kissing her forehead and wrapping his arms around her waist. I gasped when Bella finally started slowly walking down the stairs.

She was in the shade of blue I enjoyed on her the most, the tea length dress innocent but appealing. Her shoulders were bare, the sleeves and top of the bodice clutching to her skin, teasing her chest, and the sleeves were made of a see through fabric, looking almost like a fantasy sketch with them flowing down her arms, bunched together with a gold band at her wrist.

She wore gold jewelry and-shockingly-high heels, her curls pinned up to frame her face without them falling over it. I felt a tingling sensation as her eyes darkened, her gaze going up and down my body.

"I need better words for beautiful." I mumbled in greeting, my hands sliding over the perfect dip of her waist.

Bella laughed softly, an enchanting smile on her lips, and she wrapped her arms around my neck. "So are you going to tell me why I get to see you in such a pretty dress?" I asked.

"No." Bella chirped, taking my hand and leading me to the garage. "It's still a surprise." I pushed against her shield again, and smiled as she opened a crack. I promise I'll share my thoughts with you, love. Just be patient.

I smiled, taking her hand and kissing it as we got into my Austin Martin, Bella not even trying to get into the driver's seat. Bella gave me directions, and we drove along the outskirts of Camden, a small forested town in New Jersey we've been staying in.

We sadly could not go back to Forks, given the fact that I was 'dead'. I did check in on them, one, with Bella. Everyone heard of the tragic car crash that the Cullens got into, killing me. Everyone whispered about the heartbroken family who had to move away from the place of such a tragedy, going to L.A.

Joana was upset, but immediately got through it through grief counseling, and used the loss of a nephew to finally quit her job as a nurse, starting her service of caring for rescue dogs and finding permanent owners, teaming up with a prestigious organization. She even has a boyfriend. A nice man who's a few years older than her, in his 40's. They have a close bond and tell each other everything.

My parents were struck by my loss but reacted accordingly. My dad worked even more and my Mom became a trophy wife, refusing to see a counselor even though guilt was tearing her to shreds.

"We're here." Bella announced, though there was nothing but trees and. . .generic songs you only hear a handful of times in your life? I scoffed as she hopped out of the parked car.

"Um, love, this isn't where you go in formal clothes." I informed her, getting out of the car hesitantly.

"Maybe not formal clothes you plan to see again." Bella amende, giggling and taking my hand. She led us a few feet closer to the thinning line of trees and I saw that the local highschool was the source of the music, teenagers dancing in the meadow-like field, celebrating prom.

"I know I didn't ask you." Bella said, "But I also knew it would be more fun to surprise you."

I chuckled softly, resting my hands on her waist, admiring her in her dress. I bent down and felt her smooth skin under my lips, and I immediately moved my lips to her neck, nuzzling her and smiling when she purred.

"I'll never get tired of hearing that." I told her, eliciting a giggle.

"As much as I enjoy this, I think prom's for dancing." Bella teased.

"Depends who you ask." I claimed. "People didn't get the classic 'lose your virginity in the back of the limo going to or from prom' trope without a little bit of proof it happens." Bella tried to bite back her laughing, swatting at me.

"Perv." She accused. I just shrugged, and we both laughed. I moved my hand into hers and spun her around, pulling her back into my chest and swaying us. Her laughter quieted and I sighed in pure bliss as she laid her head on my chest.

"It's hard to believe it." She murmured, looking up at me. "That I have you forever. That we'll be able to battle any challenges the future will give us together."

I hummed in agreement, kissing her forehead again. "Forever doesn't seem long enough." I lamented. Bella nodded in response. The corners of her lips twitched up.

"I believe I promised you a sneak peak into my mind, didn't I?" She asked. I nodded eagerly, and all of a sudden, I was sucked back to the Forks cafeteria. I was sitting with Rose, Em, Jazz and Alice, and Alice was talking about how a 'bronze haired boy' may become an important figure in my life. I smiled as I absorbed Bella's feelings during that moment, the confusion and curiosity.

Then I was at their house in Forks. I smirked as I read Bella's rant about my looks, and I bent down to nip at her ear when I read what she named my hairstyle. The image faltered for a second as Bella's breath hitched, but then continued.

And she continued showing me all of her thoughts and memories, some I couldn't quite remember so clearly. I couldn't keep my control contained when he got to our conversation in Switzerland, how much love she had for me when I comforted her, and I kissed her silly. The images went off like a light switch.

"I can't do it if you distract me." Bella chatsied breathily, eagerly nipping at my neck. I pulled away and motioned for her to continue. A teasing glint came into her eyes, and she tapped her chin. "I think I'll do it on my own time, thanks." She responded, but I got a quick flash of our first kiss in full detail.

"Vixen." I accused, kissing her nose and cheeks.

"I thought I was a vampire kitty." She quipped, and I chuckled, kissing her lips. It was just as powerful as the first time, a sensation I surely would never tire of. Bella and I had not been physically intimate, but I knew I wanted to be soon.

After a while I finally broke away long enough to reiterate words I said so long ago. "You are my life now." I vowed in a coo.

"There will never be anyone in this world who loves someone as much as I love you." Bella stated simply.

"I can think of an exception." I told her, and I leaned down to kiss her again.

"Liar." I heard her mumble, but soon we both lost ourselves in the soft blanket of love, adoration and protection we gave each other.
