I had walked to the down square for marshalling, but right before I had gotten into the girls line, I had spotted a tuft of jet black hair poking out from the incoming crowd.
"Cass!" I shouted beckoning him to come over. Caspian had grown stronger and taller than he once was at 6, his may have gotten muscular but he had still could be recognised by his smirk and vibrant green eyes.
"You ready?"
"If you are," I smiled in reassurance but I was worried for him as he put his name in 34 times.
"Well I hope the odds are ever in you're favour!" He exclaimed pitching his voice up like Emarie, the district 5 representative would.
"Next," The marshalling Peacekeeper shouted.
"See you later," I said as I turned away from him.
The Peacekeeper took my blood sample and directed me away.
As everyone settled down, the Capitol flag appeared on the screen, Regulas Cardew took the Center of the screen. President Snow had died a few years back and following him as successor was Cardew.
"As we all know, another quarter quell has creeped up on us today and in oder to celebrate 100 years of Hunger Games and the 4th quarter quell the Capitol will demonstrate its acts of hospitality and allow for two victors of this years games!" There was a murmur in the crowd. I glanced back at Cass.
A  montage of the previous games started playing, from the very first to the 99th games. I recalled every single one of those games, it was a game that Cass and I used to play when we were bored going out hunting. We would imagine if we were in the games and how we  would survive every arena.
Emarie, a frivolously dressed woman in shades of magenta with blinding red hair stepped up. She had yellow jems carved into her face washing out her porcelain skin. "This years female tribute of district 5 is Stephanie Browning,"
My oxygen cut out almost as if time stopped. The crowd around me parted and Emarie beckoned me forwards. I limply made my way over to the front of the stage, my eyes darting around trying to spot anyone I knew in the mass sea of strangers.
I saw Billy first, his smug look on his face, jeering and laughing at me with his friends. Ever since the day I had saved Cass, Billy went out of his way to make our lives miserable. This was probably one his his many torments, amongst others such as setting Peacekeepers on us when we went hunting.
"And for our male tribute....Soren Yves," A timid boy, not more than 12 stumbled his way forward.
"Wait! I volunteer. I volunteer as tribute!" Cass yelled out, emerging from the crowd.
"Very well, our male tribute for district 5 is Caspian Phipps,"
I looked over to Cass in shock, who appeared next to me squeezing my hand in reassurance.
