The next morning I had found myself waking up next to what I believe to be is an abandoned urban settlement. I recognised the arena to be where the 76th games took place. That years key event was a giant tsunami which wiped out half the tributes.
"We'll need to get ready to swim, and find high ground," I told Caspian.
"Lets go into that building, it looks the tallest," Caspian said. We raced across the arena to what looked the strongest building of them all.
But much to our displeasure, the boy from district 12 was guarding it. He sneered at us, he was much bigger in comparison to Caspian and looked as if he had already began working in the coal mines of 12.
However the boy'a figure did not put off Cass as he began to wrestle with him. I waited till the boy was about to strangle Cass when I shot him with Cass' arrow, I missed his head but managed to target his back.
The boy let out a moan of pain as Cass finished him off with another arrow, saving him from anymore pain.
As we raced up the stairs I began to hear something, the sound of water gushing at a speedy velocity.
"Faster," I yelled, at this point dragging Caspian up the stairs.
"That's. What. She. Said," Caspian said between staggered breaths.
We approached the top of the stairwell, kicking open a final door as we stepped into the rooftop of the building. We stripped of any clothes that could hold us down, I took off my jacket, exposing me to the cool air which the tank top did no help to provide me with heat. It was the same for Cass who had taken off his wife beater, exposing his abs to the cool air. That same air blew his curly locks of hair in the wind, his muscles were flexed and prepared for the incoming wave. In that moment I felt something I had never felt before,"
"Look!" Caspian yelled, taking me away from my thoughts.
My instincts were on cue, I spotted a wave, one worse than the one that killed my dad. I had no idea how I could survive this.
Crash
The wave hit us with brute force, I struggled to even breathe, let alone push myself up. I was trapped underwater, running out of air fast. But I was aided, a strong muscular hand wrapped around me, pulling me up as we surfaced. Three cannon shots were heard. I looked up at Caspian, his hair was soaked, covering his brilliant green eyes.
"You good?" He asked gasping for air.
"Yeah," I said in the same manner.
I looked around me, I could spot 4 heads in the distance, that meant that only 7 of us were left.
———-
The same screeching noise occurred again, this time it was quieter or maybe I had become accustomed to it, the bright light once again disappeared and I had found myself in a canyon as night settled down. We orienteered our way to a cave to spend the night, often slipping from our wet feet on the dry rocks. Another canon sounded again that night when I was on night duty.
———-
Today the girls from 2 and 10 died as well as the boys in 6,9 and 12. Only 4 more to kill and then we'll both be on our way home.
