That morning we heard the sounds of chatter coming from the remaining careers. They were plotting to kill the boy from 8 and then us next.
"We have to think fast what should we do?" Cass asked.
"Hide and wait for them to kill each other off. They have to announce the second Cornucopia bloodbath, we have enough supplies, we won't need anymore. They'll kill each other off, leaving 2 people left, then we'll take them down," I responded. "This years Main even was blood rain, tributes lost their footing, slipping on the blood, falling or cracking their heads in to death. This is by far the best spot to stay in,"
"Alright it sounds like one hell of a plan," Caspian said.
Ding ding ding
I heard the sound of a sponsor gift fly though, I went outside and pulled away the parachute, a message lay inside. 'Run' It warned us.
Just then, a shrill cry emerged from deep within the caves. It wasn't human, I heard slithers and hisses emitted from the source. "Fuck the plan we need to get out now," I whispered, packing up our belongings, but it was too late, I had caught sight of what the game makers had in-store for us. 10 or so snakes, each equiped with 4 heads emerged from the shadows. The two of us raced out.
We were fast but the snakes were faster, we jumped down from rocks, took sharp bends, but to no avail. The snakes were adapted for speed and agility. As a last effort attempt I slashed one of its many heads but it grew in back within a second,  biting my waist as I ran. I felt a searching jab of pain in my side, falling onto my knees. Caspian noticed, lifting me onto his back, he dodged through craters and almost ran into the career pack. However to our pleasure, the snake group found the careers to be more appealing than us and slithered their way.
Cass carried me until he found a big enough boulder to put me down.
"Is it bad?" I grimaced.
"No," he said, but I could tell that he was lying, a canon boomed once again in the distance. The snakes had claimed its first victim.
"Attention tributes, a feast will be held in the Cornucopia with the item that each of you need the most," A voice rung out. Cass turned his back on me.
"No, don't. You'll get killed," I protested.
"Look at you, you can't even walk on your own. If I get this you have a shot of coming out alive. That was the plan," Cass said. I tried to interject, but he had run off. I waited for what felt like forever.
Boom
A canon went off in the distance. My heartbeat fastened, was that Cass? Loud heaving drew my attention away. As I saw a black tuft of hair emerge from the hill beneath me.
"You fucking idiot!" I yelled at him, "I-I thought you were dead,"
He laughed, opening the small bag, marked with the numeral 5. He pulled out a tub of cream, lifting my shirt he started applying it. The second the cream touched the wound I let out a sigh of relief.
"Better?" He asked.
"Better," I assured him.
He lifted me up and to my amazement I was able to walk again.
"This cream does the opposite thing I can do, make women not be able to walk," Cass sniggered.
"We'll see about that," I teased, pulling out a bread roll and halving it with him.
"Love birds, where are you? It's only us left!" Grove from district 2 cooed. This was followed by the laughter from district 4's Regina.
