On the day of the Games, I was up before anyone else was , getting ready for what might come. Emarie entered the room, looking grim. She knew what was to come.
Caspian came downstairs, "You know our plan, right?"
"You're going to go get the weapons from the Cornucopia and I'll get the medicine and food supplies,"

I was in a prep room with Laurie, she put on my uniform, a white tank top, black cargos and a cream jacket with district 5's emblem on it.
"For good luck," Laurie said, putting on my father's necklace. I gave her a small smile as I stepped into the tube, my hands sweaty and ill-prepared.
'10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,'
I felt the platform rise as the count down occurred. My eyes were blinded by the sudden appearance of sun. When my eyes had finally adjusted I could see the area a clearly. It was an old gladiator ground, the old arena which hosted the first 10 hunger games. I glanced around, trying to find Cass amongst the other tributes. I spotted him 2 spots to my left.
"Welcome to the 4th Quarter Quell and may the odds ever be in your favour," the screen opposite me began counting down from 60 seconds. I searched around the Cornucopia for any food supplies or medicine.
I noticed that all the weapons were located in the middle whilst the supplies were found on the outer rim. Caspian would have a hard time fighting off the careers to the weapons.
'3,2,1'
The second I heard 1, I ran into the Cornucopia, head first. The girl from 3, tried to jump me but I dodged her. As I reached the Cornucopia, I fumbled for any bags I could spot, picking up 3. The boy from 7 charged towards me, holding a dagger. But I threw a disposed metal flask in his face, he collapsed, defenceless a career sliced his head. The canon boomed. In shock I hadn't noticed one of the careers looming towards me-
"Steph!" Cass yelled from inside the Cornucopia, throwing a knife my way. I had barely caught it when the girl from 8 tackled me to the ground. I slashed at her face but she kept in dodging, I looked over to Cass who also had his hands full.
'Persephone!" A boy screamed out, the girl jumped away from me but before she could I dug my knife into her. She collapsed on the ground and I ran over to help Cass. Canons boomed as I made my way over to him.
He was stuggling as the boy and girl from 10, seemed to form an alliance, pinning him down. I ripped the boy off Cass and kicked the girl away from Cass. Helping him up, I searched for a place to take refuge.
I initially noticed the tunnels in the arena but too many tributes seemed to flee there and it would have been another blood bath. That's when I noticed the spectator seats, the perfect place to hide. I dragged Caspian over with me, climbing up the ruins of stairs we made it to the top of the arena.
And that was only just the beginning.
